how big can a spotted gar get?anyone have some impressive pics of it to share?
i have personally only raised one to about 14-15'' and sold it on.
an LFS has a large display tank which has 2 22'' spotted gars and has had them for a couple of years and grew them from 4''.
there well fed too but have not grown for some time.

4' in the wild but usually smaller in the aquarium - in my experience their growth rate slows down once they get over a foot - ive had mine for a couple years (at about 9-10in) and hes around 15-16in now and hes feed very well (feeders, krill, silversides, bloodworms) hes starting to put on more girth as he getrs older but for the amount he eats he doesnt grow that much

thanks for the info,
We have 5,and they came from a store where one of U.K.s most experienced fish keepers works and he said hes only seen them up to 24",but 18" is norm.mkpeters6 got it right with growth,a spurt up to around 12" and expect a couple of inches per year.
