Can I use big plastic and big silk plants from the store like walmart, kmart in a 30 inch tall tank? Or will they be toxic?

I use them from Walmart, AC Moore, and all of those great fabric stores. They are much bigger, more realistic looking, and crazy cheaper then the fake looking expensive aquarium plants. When I get them, I usually try to avoid any that have the popeire (you know, those that smell), and I also soak them for a day or two, just to make sure.

I know this thread is a week or so old but I might note that almost all of those plants have wire inside.Ive checked the plants in the wal-mart craft section and I've checked craft stores...almost all of them have wire inside that is exposed usually there are small holes along the stock.

anyhow I decided against using them.....

I agree with senor_pescados-felices, nice plants, but they do have wire in side which sucks, i've been tempted to buy them everytime i see them. Its a reason why lfs have plants that don't contain metal.

Exo tera makes killer plants for lizards that work and look really cool and the ivy/vine ones have suction cups to stick to the back or sides of your tank

Did it rust? Maybe the wire is stainless steel.

Is it possible to take the wires out without damaging the plant?
