Hey everyone, haven't been around in a while and wanted to update you on my Tigers, Mickey and Mallory. They are both a foot long now, lets remember on June 27th they were 2 inches long, so to all the questions, YES they grow fast. This is a nice pic of Mallory I took today after she just ate 3 fairly large goldfish. I use to keep them in the basement where they didn't get much human contact, and they were always skitish. I have since moved them into the living room 200 were they get lots of human interaction around the tank. I am very happy to report that they are no longer spooky at all. In fact it's kinda funny cause when they are hungry all they do is sit and stare at you till you feed them. LOL!! They are the coolest fish I have ever owned! Next spring I want to get a few baby Walleye and give them a try. Would love to hear everyones opinions and thoughts on these wonderful creatures of our native wilderness.

I didn't catch them, I bought them at a pet shop. I am told by two people who's opinion I regard highly, that we owe this to the whole snakehead ordeal. The people in power lightened up the laws regarding native fish after they banned snakeheads. Probably from pressure from industry lobbyists. Dude, do yourself a favor and never live your life without having a native tank. They are simply the best!
If I wasn't so dedicated to stingrays I would convert my 375g to coldwater just for muskies.. they are pretty sweet.

180, 125, 120, 120.. All going to be rays someday. :) I will keep my eye on the native tank. The new cabela's by my house will have to suffice for now.
They look like Natural Born Killers. LOL

Those are pretty good names. I just watched NBK a couple of weeks ago.:) I used to name all of my mean fish after serial killers. (Manson, Bundy, etc.)

Actually they are not mean in any way. Show no aggression toward anything they cannot eat. I named them that cause they are eating machines, and eat anything they can fit in their very huge mouth. Thus Natural Born Killers Mickey and Mallory. If I was to name my fish after serial killers, my former Butti would have been Dahmer, and my former Dovii would have been Gacy! LOL

It seems much of the nation wants Tiger Muskies! I love mine and have wanted them all my life! You would not have believed the look on my face when I walked into a pet shop and seen them for sale! I wanted to buy them all! LOL! Bought two, and both are doing great! They seem very hardy as well, which is cool, cause I hate delicate fish! I can do water changes without worrying about clorine. They are that hardy.

No. They are not aggressive at all, just eating machines. I don't want to risk putting anything with them. It's their tank. All that is in with them is a Tiger Shovelnose and a large Pleco.

Musky and Northerns do mate in the wild, and not all offspring are sterile so why wouldn't they be native?????

Had a pair of these as well, havent seen them at the lfs since:cry:, doubled in size in a month, and the way they feed was amazing, how they would just sit there and then dart forward, taking down prey i couldnt believe they could swallow. Anyhow went on vacation for a week and the neighbor kid killed them :irked:
Very cool, i definatly agree that everyone should keep them at somepoint. Anyhow nice fish, keep the updates coming!:naughty:

Bit of advice. Fish can go long periods without food. Next time you go on vacation, don't have anyone care for them. They are better off hungry than having someone who doesn't know what they are doing, caring for them.

I didnt want him over :irked: he came over to feed the rabbit and my parents 55 though, and somehow killed 3/4 of that tank... i didnt trust the kid and told him to leave mine alone but somehow he killed them too, and my other tank where the oscar and senegal were, well a day later they would have been done for. I honestly to this day have no clue what he did, as my theory is the same as yours better left alone then in the hands of the clueless.

Are you on well water or city lines? I'm curious as to why your chlorinated water does not bother them? I was under the assupmtion chlorine in tap water is toxic to fish over a period of time . It causes gill necrosis ???
BTW your fish are awesome, makes me want to get in the car grab a pole and head up north.
