do you know if all theese have all of theese been wild caught or are they captive bred over there ? it is know for water hardness to play a role in the colouration and pattern in micro so i think this could be a possability in others , also if captives then they sometimes loose distinct markings of there wild counterparts ,take captive bred delhezi birchirs they loose most of the bold stripes down there side ,this could be another reason for lacking flowers

will be interesting to see the outcome of hermandrums tests

cheers col

hi mate , i mean it will be interesting to see if your tests you are doing show that water softness / hardness ect. wil have any effect on the flower development , if you found that it did , we could all benifit by raising ours to show best flowers.

mine are 3 six band and two seven band juvies at the moment and hoping to get some nice flowers developing

cheers col

ic... we realized that marulioides caught from wild vivid than who live in tank... and my fren told me try to low the water PH... they 1 years without changing any water, juz added some water... try to storage water in low ph, den everytime after changed water, just add the water into... i don't have any tank to store water, so just let 1 stay outdoor with the cloudy and algae water, another 3 rear with in-door...

p/s: LFS owner told me try to do in low ph and use old water

way to go tropheus u have 2 seven band ! how envy. nowadays it's very difficult to find a seven band. any pic ?

hermandrum what your friend told you is right. previously i had a juvenile and i just leave it outside in a polyfoam container for 2 months (rain & shine). water greenish with algae. u will be surprised with the colouration and flowers development. some says in order to obtained full flowers development feed more with shrimps

With this "bad" water condition...will the marulioides can grow healthy?

I am interest to keep a Marulioides or Marulia again, but i plan to let him join my arowanas & gars in future....so which species more suit? Marulioides or Marulia?
I prefer the species that don't have devilish behave, which means not very aggrassive, more peaceful and can comm together with arowana.

The tank size is 180cm x 60cm x 60cm, water ph is 6 and temp is 28-29 degrees.

My current aro tank got 1 RTG, 1 Silver, 2 Florida Gars and 2 Severums...
So would it be good idea i put 1 middle size Marulioides or Marulia into this tank in future?

(if i really want put a Marulioides or Marulia into this tank, the 2 Severums will be removed)

nice tank set n combo. bro. i would suggest a maruloides cos marulia more aggresive. however you should get a maruloides at the size of your gar if not it will end up like skareb's fish. swallowed by his banjar red aro

sometimes im worry about shrimp... they have the sharp head's "needle" to kill my c.m after swallow

right guys i scored a big fat FAIL on this one , every time i get camera near them they head for cover , doesnt help there in a planted set-up , anyway a got a couple of shots but none that show the full 7 bands , but some that show the bands to half way on the body , i will keep trying to get one showing the full seven .

I had got a 4 inches Maruloides 2days ago, now keeping it in a 3 ft cement tank (4 sides are cement, no glass).

Plan to feed him mainly with shrimps, and will do less water changing...maybe 1 time per-month.

Once he had become 1 ft long, i will try to let him join my arowanas and gars.

Thank you, prehaps so.

Unlike first 1-2days just stay stil in the tank, now he has started to swim around in the tank, but stil very timid...i think he need more times familar the new environment.

All these while I suspect water TDS and PH was the reason for the coloration until something struck me, from the same peat swamp you get really ugly looking CM and suddenly you get a yellow belly and flowery pc, I think genetic is the main issue here.

Example micropeltes, same lake you get many different pattern variety, this shows water is not the main influence but rather gene.
