have a 20 inch one in my pond, great appetite, eats food pellets....occasionally i feed it with slim chunks of fish but on occasions, has difficulty swallowing them coz it needs to allign it due to its slender snout.

I have one of 25 inch. His behaviour is very calm, he eats frozen fish not aggressiv compared with the crocodile hybrid in the same size. What do you want to know?

I've got one 26inches long. Depending what pics Neoprodigy puts up on the list of fish in my 15k article you might get to see him.

I have a Long Nose I've had for a while, mine grew quick up to 14" and has slowed dramatically, although I've been looking for a new hame for him he's getting close to too big for his tank.

It is not an unusual occurance for a longnose to reach 16 inches in one year and be 24 inches by the next.

Yeah, longnose gar are very interesting fish. I had 7 small gar in the 13 to 17" range last year. I got them from the Potomac River. They would pound minnows like you wouldn't believe. I would toss in 2 dozen small golden shiners and they would get taken out in about 5 minutes. It was pretty wild seeing the feeding frenzy start up. The gar grew too big for their tank so I decided to let them go. If I had a pond, I probably would have kept a few.

evil monkey, gars are usually dosile creatures. However, if a fish will fit in it's mouth they will try to eat it. I have kept many of them and have not had one try to beat up on any of my other fish. Usually they are the one's who get picked on. Just make sure you keep other large fish with them.

i got 2 today, they are like 5 inches each. they reside in a 90 community tank with nothing agressive except the royal clown knife, but i dont really consider that to be agressive.

I have 4 in my pet pond by the house. Three are about 3' long and maby 5 or 6 pounds. Miss Gracey is a bit over 5' and about 22 pounds. I feed them chunks of fresh fish allmost every day and they are quite tame. There was some spawning about to start today. They do not bother any of the other fish in the pond of any size. HappyFish

Naw, My pet pond is in easy shotgun range of my deck. I have 5 small lakes in my yard, (15) acres. Four are stocked with rainbow trout (work) and one has 5 bass over 10 lbs, 4 longnose gar, one small gator gar, and a whole bunch of other neet stuff. I really suck at this web stuff, I don`t know how to post photos and video or I would be happy to show you some pix of my babies. You can see pix of the farm at www.rainbowranchtrout.com If any of you guys or ladies live in the area stop in some time and maby you could put some pix up for the fokes to see. I have at times an under water camera running in the pet pond that is slaved into a tv in the house. We were going to hook up several cameras to my web site but my web person had to go find herself.-----It gets a lot worse than this, my next home will have a 3000 gal aquarium as one wall as well as one room under water of the lake next to the home. Yes I have the $$$$ and the know-how to do it. And you just thought you were weird.-----HappyFish:screwy:
