hey guys...this is my asian knife fish...i call him Sam...:)
can you tell me how large these guys usually get?...he's about 5-6" right now....
madly aggressive...i've never had such a meanie before...'cept for my snakehead though...
can anyone tell me a good diet for him...?
i feed him worms...shrimp...chicken liver...

It kinda resembles an African Knife,wich also are aggressive but stay kinda small at only 6-7 inches,never heard of an Asian knife before.

i have a brown african knife that looks very very similiar to that. He's about 7" but docile as hell.

yeah...they do resemble African knives....way different in behaviour though....
this guy is crazily aggressive...he'd kill anything he could lay his fins on....

Definitely not an African Knife. Nice Asian Knife. They can get up to 8"-12" I believe they can max out at 14" Notopterus Notopterus are the most aggressive Asian species Knife you can get.

In India they r about 0.50$ for a 6".. And a full grown adult pair would go for 4.50$..

Im fedup of seeing these fish.. They r just too common.. Almost every shop has them.. U can get them cheaper than that..

yep...that's coz they're native...and way too many in number these days...though i don't think they're being bred anywhere in India.....
i don't really care how common they are though...i love my 'lil meanie....
BTW...hey Weylin....are you the GatorX guy from IAH.....the one who was asking about Gars and Natives?

my asian knife grew to about a foot and was aggressive around his pipe but calmed down outside of it,also i grew him on with an indo dat and various other oddballs so maybe that's why he was calmer than if he grew up by himself:)

no i grew him with one indo dat in a 5x2x2 freshwater set up,only 2 species of dats are regularly found in brackish and they also can do well in fresh,i now have a royal clown knife instead anyhow
