Impossible to shoot right now in the given lighting situation. But they have stout faces, not pointy like the vitatus and forskali. Also they are all silver, no traces of black running lines. I'm 95% sure about the id on these fishes. I have four GATs and 1 VAT.

I tried, believe me. took about fifteen shots and gave up. the flash is ****ing it up. without the flash the shot is too dark. and the tank is very dirty so i am getting a dirty relflection thingee. i'm tired. i look at my new fishes and i think i must be dreaming or that this is too good to be true and tomorrow ill wake up and they will all be dead or all of them will have been eaten by one another and the last one will have eaten himself just like the guy in the beatles cartoon movie Yellow Submarine. And I just had a great first date with a hot girl.

One would think that a chick would love to see four goliaths, but, such is not usually the case. I have told two or three girls about my new fishes and none of them care, at all. Actually, most people fail to recognize the import!:screwy:

I'm going to try again later to get some pics. I understand the need for proof especially in identifying these very difficult to id fishes. God, they are gorgeous. I do have a fellow MFKer coming over on Sunday to buy my fx5 so worst case scenario is he witnesses my grand fishes.

Well, 4 gatfs probably is one of the largest collection of gats in the world. think about it. definitely in the top fifty collections. i have to buy some more vits just to keep my gats from killing each other. i'll buy one more vit; and i'll try to get another 46 gats. watch and learn people. haha. just kididng.

Considering li had 10 at one time and everything hits big in japan before here, not to mention how many insane fishkeepers don't even visit the internet. Sure.

I had 1 Goliath and that was too much for me to handle. Grew him to 15" and had to let him go to a new home (2k gallon tank). Hopefully you have the means to house 4 let alone 1 now. I would say concentrate on 1 and grow him out as best as you can. When you get him to the size of over 2ft easy, than bragging rights will be well deserved. I know quite a few people that even had more than 10 at one time. All came to the realization that even though how cool it was to have a school of Goliaths, it's not practical in a home aquaria.

well, truth is, in less than two years i will be moving east to go to grad school, so i will selling these fishes in a year and a half. they will not get to "15. but, i hear ya. i agree. one monster is better than a bunch of little guys. unless the little guys are just smaller monsters. eh, who knows. but i will be buying a few more gatfs. i have heard that some guy had fifteen at one time. i aim to beat that. but i know a guy who probably already has beat that. eh, who knows. :D

The largest is over 24+" perhaps bigger now.

As long as your PH does not fluctuate your alright. Your in So.Cal right? The PH straight out the tap in SFV is around 7.8+?

ATF's are very hardy and will adapt to your PH level out your tap. If they are acting fine and eating let it be. The more you mess with your PH in either increasing or decreasing is when you'll have problems.

I grew fond of my PBASS collection and when my Goliath took a half chunk out of a 7" Orino in addition to slashing a few others. I knew I had to make a choice. At the same time my baby girl was going to be born so I had to make a drastic change in my collection.

LOL.... My Vitattus use to punk the crap out my Goliath =-( What's great about a Goliath is that it's not as aggressive as a Vitattus and tends to keep to himself. But when the day comes that he realizes he ain't no punk and he's got the sharp teeth to boast, well let's just say hopefully the other fish in the tank are expendable. I believe confidence grows as the GATF does. It's all just a matter of time.
