I will have quite a few chow hound big fish and want to know the cheapest foods frozen I can feed them? I do know beef heart and beef liver are some of the cheapest, are there any others? Many of my fish will eat greens which are cheap too like lettuce, peas or whatever. Any ideas will help, any frozen shrimp that is cheap???????????

Try different foods from the produce dept of your grocery store. Smelt is probably the cheapest. I also feed: people shrimp, scallops, squid, etc. Cut into bite-sized pieces & freeze. I thaw in cool vitamin water as needed.

All sorts of fish fillet and smelt

yeah just find a frozen wight fish fillet can't really go wrong there unless its treated with something just try to find fresh frozen fish shrimp can be cheap squid to if you buy in bulk all sorts of stuff just go to a store and look around for something cheap

I feed my 2.5-3.5 inchers blue anchovies which run about $1.79/lb in my local asian market but it should be cheaper in other places like Albertsons and the like.

you can do a diet straight from your local grocery store and even enrich it with vitamins if you want. you can food process some smelts (silversides) or whitefish and process some cooked shrimp, clams, or some crab, baby shrimp, even squid in some cases and hold them together with a small amount of unflavored gelatin..if feeding omnivorous then throw in some spinach, a zucchini, pease, or some other dense green matter and stick it together..its a pain for the night but it works out saves you money and trouble in the long run.
