I was chit chatting with a guy at my LFS, got talking about how some fish are really hard to breed etc..

He said clown loaches had only ever been bred once in captivity....

Is this true?

As far as real documented cases without hormones, I believe they have been spawned once or twice, but never photographic evidence of fry.

A member on here by the name of fishdance is the guy to talk to...

I would say clown loaches have been bred naturally a couple of times and induced to spawn with hormones regularly.

there are only reports of a successful spawn, no pics or proof, but cmon you would think they would have a camera on hand!

If they had been naturally, there would be some proof. I doubt it.

Not everyone posts on the internet...

Millions of people own clown loaches... chances are its happened naturally in an aquarium at some point.

If fishdance see's this thread he may post a pic of his fry for you ;)

I thought he breeds them with hormones? Still, I'd love to see that. Either way, I'll wait for evidence.

Yes, fishdance has had many spawns of hormonal induced breeding clown loaches. Good on him as he's supplying the market with a stronger clown and saving the wild populations.
