Hi

I just found this "documentary" on Youtube...
I have to say that i was very disappointed with that clip..
It might have been taken out of a bigger context, but as it is now, it was just designed to paint a bad image of the snakeheads.

While invasive species do constitute a problem, the snakehead problem has IMHO been blown completely out of proportion

Here in Japan, the northern snakehead was introduced in the 1900' and so far as i know it hasn't wiped out any native species.

Well, take a look and see for your self..also read the comments..they are well..just read them.

Only the giant snakehead is disastrous the rest of them doesnt really pose much danger.

In msian whenever giant snake head is present in the water you can feel even the local natural fish cannot survive, they out compete everything.

The problem is that c. micropletes would not be able to survive in the U.S, except for a few states that is warm enough all year round.
This goes for the majority of the snakeheads, most of them would not survive the winters.

The exception is of cause the argus which do well in cold water.

I am fully aware of the problems that they can and i would like to stress the "can", cause to native spices.
As far as i know, there is or was a established population in Maryland concentrated to a few ponds and rivers..and while they can reproduce quickly, they do also have other fish/animals that preys on them..so who knows what kind of impact they would have on the environment in the long run??

The problem in my eyes and what really gets to me, is that they ban them all regardless and at the same time vilify them as these monsters that will crawl out of the water to eat your dog, your kid and you mother..

I don't live in the states, i am not an American either, but i would like to see a more objective view of the snakeheads... they are fish, not public enemy nr1..though it sure looks like it sometimes..

Snakeheads are interesting fish and i would love to see my fellow american
monster fish keepers get a chance to keep them again...
but with a "documentary" like this..i fear not!

Sorry for the rant..rant over!

Hello,everybody..........
first of all:
Sorry for my bad english, but I hope you know what I mean!

Well I am not an american ,too, but I think americans need an enemy to be scared!
And here is a new one for them:

The new terrorist for the USA: SNAKEHEADS

Well,I am breeding them for about 11 years now and thats, what been told in the NG Video is completly rubbish!

And viking252200 is right, when he says they cannot wipe out eveything what is in their way!
I agree 100% what you are saying!!!

The goverment of maryland uses chemicals for killing the "Frankenfish",but what they did also was killing their own lake with it-STUPID

snakeheads are very interesting and unique fish and also very imortant for the asiatic part of the world as a food fish..........

The problem is not the fish, but the human race !!!
They release foreign species everywhere they live..............not only in the USA

To walk on 2 legs an have a thumb means not that humans are intelligent !!!

Regards from Germany

I come from malaysia and micropeltes is our native species, yes they're very destructive and the species that can withstand the eating machine seem to be the tilapia. If this thing get into any lake you can see other species dissapearing in an alarming state.

Other channa not so bad...but not this monster.
