Man one time the lungfish pooped and I was doing a water change. I usually leave the python draining the water. When I came back it stopped draining. I went to see what was wrong and found a big ass lungfish turd stuck in the gravel tube

Lungfish aren't very closely related to most other fishes. My SAL's poop looks a lot more like my axolotl's poop than anything else.

i believe i've heard in a few threads sanatoury mentioning breeding of all different lungfish. not sure who they are or how you'd go and get a hold of them but if sanatoury was still here he could enlighten us......

My dolloi makes these perfect turds dark green nicely rolled in a tight package..while my Aethiopicus craps like this...same food, same water same temp...almost the same parameters...it only eats 3 times more than my dolloi.

And as you could see my aethiopicus who eats the same food usually craps in small floating slimy pieces and it gets stuck in the filter....some tiimes it craps nice but never like my dolloi...his turds are nicely packed in a ( I don't know the english words for it) it looks like it is rolled up like a (green) pancake and wrapped in thick plastic. (that is some how the only way I can explain it in english)

It's funny this thread came up again.
now that my P.A.A. did some growing and is up to 40 inch. He decited to take a crap every day. for the last week/ week and a half.
When he craps in his tank you can't even see there is a lung in the tank anymore. I think I spend aprox 3 to 4 hours a day refreshing the sh*t out of his tank. (aprox a 100% a day) This isn't funny any more....BUT I do think it is still worth it..he is still in his young years and needs a lot of food because he is growing like hell. Whenever i get in my fish room he is up against the glass begging for food.
Eats aprox a tilapia filet a day + a hand of saki hikari pallet food and A hand of algae waffer...I bought some big bags of Hikari waffers wich are actually not fo commercial use. 1kg a bag.
This Saki hikari actually does wonders to their growth.my p. dolloi wich was stuck at 40 inch is now 42 inch. and he hardly eats a thing. just 1 shrimp or a small piece of fish a day. but he loves this saki hikari.
But I think this saki Hikari makes it crap this much.
This food has some ,,live"lactobacillus bacteria in them witch makes sure the digestion is optimal, faster growth and the packing says less water polution. (well not in my case) but this means the bacteria in their turds also take care of a good water quallity.

I have been looking in to some new filters yesterday...and I ran in to this amazing filter...with a screen wich cleans itself every 30 minutes..I will post a thread once this filter is installed.

Was planning on doing a pre historic tank and really wanted a lung in there, but due to agression i thot it would be best to just have a second tank prepared. But now i clearly see agression and tank size are the least of my worries.

I decided to pass on the lung (for now) as Ive been raising huge dog breeds all my life and was hoping to avoid this type of problem with the aquarium hobby. Still a truly great fish!

PS. Anyone know anything about other prehistoric poop? Odd, I cant find any other threads like this one. ^_^
