Hello........
I have got 4 of them ,in a size of about 65 cm........
I think that they wre 2 couples!
The males are smaller and thinner, also they are not as colourful as the females!!!
I got them with the "Channa spec Mekong" name,But I hve seen them with "Channa spec Salween" ,too
I have to give one couple to someone els ,because the Aquarium is MUCH too small!!!
What is the tank size you are keeping them in?
Cheers and merry christmas to everybody (no matter which religion)

Great snakehead in Thailand that I known, it have
1. Channa sp Mekong (this thread, someone claim "Channa grandinosa ")
2. Channa aurolinetus, I think it have 2 variety..
Meklong (Western Thailand) variety. (Orange spot on tail)
Salween (Border Thailand & Burma) variety. (Orange spot on tail and full with white scale) Some fish like a flower, I used to keep 6 flowers but it jump from the tank and die before I take a picture. Some fish continuousl patetern of white scale (I Keep them 4, 12-15" long).
Now I haven't Meklong variety because the pattern less beauty than salween.
I don't know why I can npt post pics in this reply, I will post a new thread nextime after prepare all pics. Hope to answer your question.
This is the list of my snakehead :
1 Channa sp Mekong
2 Channa aurantimaculata
4 Channa sp Salween
6 Channa marulioides (Malaysia)
1 Channa marulius (India)
1 Channa melasoma (Just got it yesterday, condition not so good, I hope to can keep it alive)

but anyway! intrxz, do you often see them for sale in Malaysia?

03-13-2008, 4:22 AM
depends on d flowers..oleoleole's current fish is superb compared with d two pics i found in d net. If compared his with maruloides, i go for his. I only came across once in d LFS where i purchased my gold channa micro and at that time this so called mekong spec were selling RM 8:00 each about 10" and i really regretted for not buying some to keep..at that time all were juveniles n does not possess any blotches or flowers...
