Buying a 180 gallon tank and need some expert advise!!!
Hi,
I have an opportunity to buy an 180 gallon tank pictured below. It was setup as a saltwater tank and it's supposedly in great shape, but just needs to be cleaned. It has the overflows, but I plan on buying a Black arrowana to house in it..etc.
Haven't really made up my mind if I want it to be salt or fresh with the arowana?
Paying $750.00 for it...
Anything I should be concerened with since it has overflows and it was a saltwater tank?

Nice looking tank. Not sure if its big enough for a Black Aro for life.

Should I get a Jardini instead?

Well it certainly would e big enough for a jar.

Should be good for a jardini for a long time. When the jar gets to be 30" it may feel cramped. Those internal overflows would take alot of turning space away from a 30" jardini.
Don't know what tanks sell for in Boston area, but that doesn't seem like that good of a deal. If you are dead set about getting an aro, wait and find a better suited tank. Or get the tank and get the aro, but upgrade to a bigger tank in 3-4 years

Make sure it gets filled up in front of you ;) I fill all the tanks I seel right in front of or have them filled for a few days before selling...
Just my own policy ;)

Actually for an Oceanic tank I've been told it's an AWESOME deal? I also posted on another forum and everyone said it was a steal...
Are 180 gal tanks cheaper in your area? If so, how much?
Thanks.

That would be a little above avaerage price for a used 180g around here. I paid $200 for mine but was tank and tops only.

This is not the forum to discuss that, the upper management(Mods) frown on the derailing of threads.
There is a thread in the lounge Official 2007-2008 NFL Thread (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89678) where all the arrogant Patsie* fans can post and get my replies.

I think you'll be fine, like everyone else said. Just be prepared to upgrade if you have to.
