I purchased some small hikari sinking algae wafers. I currently have been feeding my bullhead goldfish flakes. He will come out of hiding to feed when I feed him flakes. He will eat them off the bottom as well as from the surface. I want to make the switch because state me if I'm wrong on this. They are more nutritious for him.
So I dropped in one of the wafers and it just sat on the bottom and my bullhead didn't even budge. Are these not a good food source for this little guy? He is about 3 inches long. I think I just need to let him warm up to them. Any ideas? Are frozen blood worms a good choice? Keep in mind I want the best for my water quality and also that my fish gets a nutritious healthy diet. Gold fish flakes just don't cut it for either of these things.
mix it up, frozen thawed bloodworms, market shrimp, cichlid pellets, and hikari sinking carnivore pellets. The algae wafers are ok , but bullhead are more carnivorous. anything meaty really. To make the switch, do not feed him flakes at all. and try him on bloodworms, not freeze dried, or good carnivore floating pellets. bullhead are by no means picky, if they are hungry they will eat any food you feed them. it is there instincs to eat. get frozen bloodworms and frozen shrimp and use your algae wafers, and soon he will be eating like a pig.

Get some sinking carnivore pellets and mix them in with an algae wafer or two. A little fiber never hurt anyone.
i feed my bullheads golfish flakes, pellets, shrimp pellets, and the occasional feeder if it lives past the greens

What type of bullhead? My yellow eats the algae wafers as soon as they hit the bottom!
It also comes to the surface to eat pond pellets, and mosquitofish! How long have you had your bullhead?
I would like to see some pics!

If it's already eating flakes, you could try Sprirulina Flake by Ocean Nutriotion or Kelp Flakes by Omega One.
Bullheads are mainly carnivorus, but if he will eat flakes, he will take veggie flakes too.

turn ur lights off when you feed him. my cats hate light, they just lay there like they're dead. as soon as the lights go off and led's come on they act crazy

I bought him some hikari freeze dried brine shrimp that comes in cubes. I just break off nice little chunks and he gobbles it right up like no other. My LMB won't touch the stuff though. It says it's a big color enhancer and it's full of vitamins. So currently hikari frozen brine shrimp and hikari algae wafers are the cats main diet. He's a big fatty and he loves it.
