i was wondering if there are any catfish species that can be successfully housed with african cichlids. my tank currently contains 1 frontosa, 6 zebra cichlids, 1 auratus cichlid, and 1 yellow lab. any help with picking any non-cichlid tankmates that are from the same region or at least from africa would be very helpful.
cheers

i have good luck with haplo catfish, and Raphael catfish.
I've got Striped Raphael
Asian Upside down (Mystus leucophasis)
Synodontis ocellifer
Syno. eupterus
all get along w/ the cichlids just fine. A little pushing at feeding time, but no aggression. The Syno. do have times when they chase each other from dif. overhangs, but again, nothing serious.
I have a syno with mine and a larger bumble bee cat and I havent had problems.

petricola are awesome catfish, you can do a group of them, and they get about 3" long
