I've noticed with all three new stingers that my two motoro's have grown, that the new stinger on the male always grows underneath the existing one, whereas on the female the new stinger comes in above the existing one.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with their rays or not, or if it's just coincidence. Does any else's rays always grow stingers the same way, either above or below the existing stinger?
I never really looked but always thought new stinger came in from underneath on both....
yeah me 2... anyone else noticed the same?

I looked at some old pixs of mine... they all seem to be underneath... it could just be some freak thing that occurred... but I think I may have seen that before... but my memory lacks in some areas...

My female has two right now. The new one is on top. I've seen new ones grow out both above and below.

Funny story about this. Moving my Male Henlei from his old tank to the temporary pond he got his tail severly tangled in a net. I thought it was no big deal as when he shed his stinger it would entangle itself. It has now been 7 months, he has been moved back and has shed his stinger at least twice. Problem being is the new one gets entangled again. :)
I will get a pic, but he has been affectionately named hair ball.

My males all shed the top barb with the new one on the bottom and my females all shed the bottom barb with new one on top.
