Went to Petco the other day just to look around. There was a woman there with her 2 children (boy and a girl) in the fish section. They were purchasing a "Dinosaur Eel" that the 6yr old boy had been wanting for a while it seemed. The Petco employee did not seem to be too knowledgeable about polys. I politely stepped in, and informed the mother about the fish she was buying for her son (size, food, etc...). The petco employee and her listened to what I had to say, and were generally appreciative. I was happy to hear the mother exclaim "Well, looks like we'll be buying a larger tank later this year". This senegal was just a baby about 2" and would be fine in whatever she was putting him in at the moment. After she walked away, I spoke with the employee, and apologized if I had stepped on his toes, and told him how much I like those fish. He was not angry, and him and I had a nice conversation about fish in general. I hope that boy enjoys his new "Dinosaur" and that it went to a good home. Just wanted to share because it brought a smile to my face, that "Dinosaur Eel" he bought from Petco is the same I bought from them that started my obsession with these fish.

Yeah I bought one of those too, I wish you were there to tell me it was just a senegal! I looked at the scientific name and saw polypterus palmas and coughed up 14 dollars.
