Is this an ST or an IT? I keep getting different opinions regarding my tiger. Let me post another photo ... :)

The ST (or IT) is arnd 7 inches and kinda protects the little 4inch NGT from the aggression of the jardini. But the bigger tiger do sometimes chase the smaller one around ...

The NGT is currently in a 15G quarantine tank. It's kinda got white spots and I noticed that it seems to be brushing its sides against the pot.... Could it be ich?

Siamese Tiger fish are legal in Ontario! They are rarely sold in large chain fishstores, but very common in the small Oriental fish stores. I'm in Toronto, and have purchased them for about $20 for a small 3"er. There are two types to watch out for; Datnioides Microlepis and D. Quadrifasciatus. The pictures above I believe are Microlepis. Quadrifasciatus requires brackish water to thrive! :clap
I have found these fish to be extremely smart. I had some "characters" though, one use to play with his food. He would stalk the goldfish, suck it up and spit it out!!! Oh, I forgot they grow fast 12" in about a year 1/2.

All I can say about this guy is he's one hungry fella. Eats a lot and is quite a character. Not skittish at all. I bought him at around 6.5 inches for $70 (converted from Php).

Chinese believes they're Feng Shui fishes, in combination with the arowana. While arowanas are considered dragons in the Feng Shui setup, Dat's are considered as tigers.

Max size I think is around 1.5 feet or something. Great mid-sized monsters. More bulk and less length.

New Guinea Tiger...
Yup it looks like a D. Quadrifasciatus he grows to 16" and Microlepis 20"... but Quadrifasciatus requires BRACKISH water to thrive and is more difficult to aclimate to aquarium conditions than Microlepis...and both perfer hard alkaline water...

Well, the IT and the jardini is kinda at odds with each other ... The jardini want a piece of the NGT as well, but the IT protects him. Although sometimes the IT does chase after the NGT for some reason.

I had to separate the NGT coz I noticed some white dots on its body. Maybe ich or parasite? I had the 15G quarantine tank medicated with some salt and "ich out" with a temp of 28degrees. And the NGT seems less stressed after being separated from the bigger tankmates.
