I saw my first Red Texas Cichlid in Thailand 2 years ago. I wanted to bring some back with me, but I didn't get a chance to get the permits and whatnots. I could've gotten them for $2,600 baht (I think that's $10 American Currency).

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! This fish cost me way to much. I have a bunch of flowerhorns and this one is by far the most aggressive of all borderline evil :evil_lol:

That hybrid hater thing will never go away :screwy: But you can't deny the amazing color and looks some of these hybrids obtain! I'm hooked on them thats for sure. I'll be importing some super nice pieces this January. When they arrive I'll post em up.

The true combination is held secret by the breeders but I have seen some that were produced by crossing a red based kk parrot female to a male texas cichlid! I know the strain isn't very stable so only a very small percentage of the offspring will be super nice pieces.

2,600 Baht $10 American, yet those bastard's will charge 15 times that to anyone who would like to buy it over here!

There running a monopoly on us here in the USA! The only way to get an ok deal is to import them yourself thru an honest breeder.

Dan1, I almost forgot you are right about the monopoly thing.
I'm not sure about the breeding of the Red Texas, but I'm sure they aren't sterial. So just like the Flowerhorn, I say to you why do we have to put up with this anymore? It's not like they are Arowana and need the large ponds to breed. If American's get their hands on good strains we are just as capable of breeding and selling for our selves! I know I speak for the Flowerhorn at least when I say that they are no harder to breed and rais than Jack Dempsey's. You don't see us having to import them and pay crazy amounts of money for them do you? Once this is achieved. We can lower the market, and the vast majority can maybe for once have their first look and possibly be able and willing to buy their first one of these fish! The market for these fish in this country is now limited only to a few who no what they are looking for and do so on-line like us. Everyone knows that this market would never servive inour local fish stores. No average American will be willing to pay $200 for a fish. Think though of the potential, and of how many if given the chance to choose from buying an Oscar adult at say 15-20 dollars baby at 5-10 and maybe adult Flowerhorn ranging from say 30-70 baby's maybe $30. How many would choose to go with a more superior and vastly more beautiful fish?
I have a DREAM of this one day being a reality and am comited to seeing it happen! At least here on the West-Coast for now!

Supplies and Demands. If people really want it, they can charge how ever much they want. Plus shipping and tariffs have a lot to do with it.

BastardFish

No, No shipping and what not have nothing to do with it. Most of these fish the shipping charge is not even included yet. Then you still have to deal with a charge from their trans shipper. Supply is what we need to do. The demand would be far greater if the majoriy of the people ever got the opertunity to see these fish. But until this happens our Asian friends will continue to be off the chart GREEDY and RAPE us with these prices!

I'm actually into the breeding myself. Right now I am building up my stock of high quality breeding flowerhorn pairs and I plan to eventually offer fry and sub adults at a more consumer friendly price range. It only takes a few good suppliers with regular stock available and good prices to help turn your dream into a reality. I'm trying to bring that dream into a reality on the East Coast

Good ol J.P Colby. he had some bad ass dogs. my female has 2 colby dogs on her pedigree but they are back quite a few years. very nice dog though. i got a male whos got a lot of game blood in him as well. best dogs in the world too. my little cousins and nephew can poke em in the eyes, drag behind em on their tail on their skateboards. you name it. they just dont like BIGGER animals than themselves. smaller animals run no risk of injury but i cant say the same for the larger ones.
