tetramin pro crisps, color bits, frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms, baby cichlid gold pellets by hikari, and there is a food made with krill and it has an angel on the package (it comes in a small canister) it is called soft and moist, it is a breeder conditioner so it should be pretty nutritious for them.
To get a rich depth of color with good growth and to bring to breeding condition I like adding elodea to the tank (they nibble on it a little) and also using white worms, black worms, mosquito larvae, rinsed live brine shrimp, fairy shrimp, and minced red worms.
I like using a well varied diet. In a well established tank of sufficient size with a fair ammount of plantings I was taking angels from $1.19 nickle sized fish to full grown spawners in well under a year, after they bred the first time I would sell the mated pairs, I had a waiting list.
Thank you gonna go back tonight and buy them some different foods
i wanted to put like 5 or 6 german blue rams in there will there be any problem in compatability
I have never kept rams but a lot of fish just can't resist nipping on the fins of angels.
gonna have to get alot more info on them and compatibility i really wanna keep them i love there color but i dont want to put my angels at any risk

I have a 55 gallon with 8 angels and 2 german rams. The rams leave the angels alone. I don't know how 6-8 would do in with angels but mine do ok.

Yeah, I feed my angels the flakes, which they tolerate, but i also feed them frozen brine shrimp (with spirulina, because without it they are just empty calories), frozen bloodworms (hikari puts out good ones). Make sure to thaw out before putting in tank. Also, live blackworms are a good food too if you can find them. My larger adults also get small ghost shrimp and baby guppies once in a blue moon. EXPERIMENT! They like the beefheart and other freshwater foods. (Ask for a freshwater multipack of frozen food at your pet store)
 so i went to the lfs and the fresh water guys told me i could keep the rams with the angels with no problem so friday im buying 5 or 6 of them wooo hooo finally gonna have more fishys :headbang2 also got hikari cichlid food and some freeze dried blood worms for them

Please inform if the rams & angels get along. Guessing that they'll be fine if your angels are in the common domain. I don't trust too many other tank mates with veil angels. Some of those have fins so enticing that I want to nip at them myself.
More likely to have probs with the rams quarreling amongst each other. I'll never get a reverse trio of those again, no matter how big their tank is! If I ever get rams again it's gonna be one male and a harem of females.
Post pics if you can. Sounds like a cool combination.
Good luck

As a treat for my Angels, I feed them live adult brine shrimp.
Nice to hear that the rams are cool with angels.
the rams and my knife are supposed to be in by wensday possible on friday ill post the progress of how they all get along... my angels wont eat the pellet food anymore all they will eat is the frozen blood worms, krill and brine shrimp i wanna try and get them eating more different stuff
If you want to condition them for growth and breeding condition try live brine and mysis shrimp, minced eartworm, and black or tubifex worms, if you want them back on pellets you will need to get them hungry first, try a few days of no food.
only reason i bought the pellets was for color enhancment should i stop feeding the frozen? i got all frozen cause its alot cheaper and i can stock up on it what are mysis shrimp and the elodea? i do want them to grow and breed

can get frozen blood worm they love that keep it in the fridge when you want it just cut a lop off put it in a dish under a light 5 min and you have it
I don't care for frozen brine shrimp because when it thaws it is pretty much just juice and shells, the other frozen foods are okay, I just liked live food myself. A variety is good and if they eat the pellets so much the better.
Mysis shrimp, or mysids, are also called opposum shrimp, they can be cultured at home. Here is a link for more info. http://www.syngnathid.org/articles/mysisCulturing.html
Elodea is a fast growing plant, it has been banned in some places because it is such an exuberant growth. It gives the fish cover and something to nibble on, it also locks up nitrates as it grows making your water quality more stable. When you trim it back and discard the excess you are exporting nitrates from the tank. There are a couple varieties, I think that the Egeria densa is best for tropical tanks, it is also known as anacharis.
thank you guppy that is actually one of the plants im gonna buy for this tank im gonna ask the lfs for mysids shrimp and ill treat my fish this week to some live brine shrimp thanks for the info ill post when i get the rams and knife and tell the progress thanks again guppy

Glad this thread exists because I recently brought home a pair of juvi gold angels. Nice to see all of these feeding tips! I've noticed that my new angels can't resist from picking at a piece of well established driftwood in their new tank.
They like to pick at the green algae on it.
got some beef heart and the guy is looking into frozen mysis shrimp for me he wont start a live thing till more people are interested will frozen be good guppy? ill be putting anacharis in the tank hopefully next week im gonna put it in clay pots
i put 2 german blue rams in last night and all looks good so far i also got 2 bunches of anacharis and a banana plant im gonna put a few more plants in too
I don't like frozen brine shrimp because when thet thaw all that is left is juice and shells, the mysis are better because after thawing there is still some substance to them, same is true with the frozen krill which are nice for gold colored angels, it deepens the richness of their color and brings out an amber hue.
ill have mysis shrimp on friday im going back either tonight or on monday and buying the other rams they are on hold for me they are about 2 inches all of them im gonna have 6 total but i might buy the 2 small ones that are in there too and the marbled angel
bought 2 more rams today im gonna try again after i paint the back of the tank next week to upload pictures i cant get them to upload for some reason and when i make them small enougth they are smaller than my avatar ill figure it out but rams and angels do great together
so a ram is mia lost another angel it wouldnt eat yesterday i came home and it was on my filter intake the fish going mia is driving me crazy i also noticed the rams chasing each other is this normal?

Very normal for rams to spar and chase each other, especially if you have two wanna-be dominant males. You might try putting in rocks or some kind of shelter so that subdominant/s can get away if needed. If you start seeing nipped fins, try giving them even more hiding places. If that doesn't work you may have to seperate them. Basically, every male in there wants to establish his own territory and unfortunately, sometimes the dominant male wants the whole tank! This has happened to me twice in a community setting although the rams only picked on each other and not on the other fish in the tank.
It might work to have several rams in the tank (mostly females) to disperse the aggression but I've never tried that myself.
got 3 more in to replace the ones that were eaten and im getting more angels in next week he is ordering me large ones
those 3 died too i bought a krebensis its been doing good for about 2 weeks im buying more on monday i give up on rams for awhile i dont know whats going on my water is perfect they just end up dead somehow then food for the cats
