I have a 30 gallon tank on a stand along the wall in my living room. It seemed to be a great location for a tank at first, but I guess I didn't think through the logistics of where I put the tank. You see, we have a laundry room directly above our living room. Not a problem unless the washer breaks.
Well, it did. It poured laundry water straight into my tank.
My fish tank was litteraly bubbling with laundry soap. What a night mare, apparently fish don't do so well in laundry detergent. I lost half of my little buddies. I had to transfer the remaining fish (about 6) to other tanks all over the house.

I soon found out how difficult it is to move 7'' plecostomases. I had two. They are fighters.

Lesson to learn. no matter how dirty your fish look, don't use Tide. It's realy not worth it. :(

Glad you were able to save what you did, laundry soap is definitely not good for you fish.

About ten years ago when I first strated I cleaned the inside glass og my twenty gallon community tank with a sponge. About ten minutes later the entire tank was dead.....except for the pl#co who died the next dy. I was absolutely baffled until I read the package that the sponge came in. Antibacterial sponges are not a good choice for cleaning!

I use a steel brush and WD40.
