Plecostomus or pleco, These are pretty good at keeping a tank free of algae and can grow quite large or you should get Apple snail.

I like siamese algae eaters. They are good algea eaters, but they are more lazy when adult, or if they know there are better food like the food you give the other fishes.

I've got a bristlenose plec that keeps every thing clean, he is a small pleco and can get in to all the nooks and crannies. Proabably a bit too small for some of the tanks on this site :naughty:
I just got a gibbiceps pleco today, he is settleing in ok, he is hanging around with the bristlenose they look funny next to each other.

I love my rhino Plecos, they eat algea, clean the wood(actually eat it) and sifts through the bottom along with my botias/loaches.
My brother has S. eupterus that keeps the bottom clean too.

i would cat a pleco or maybe even a few chinese algeas eaters if your tank is not that large. They both do great jobs, but i would avoid snails i had snails before and they can reproduce out of control

Lots of plecos won't eat algae and are true catfish and prefer meaty foods and waffers. Chinese algae eaters are suckermouth algae eaters that will clean the tank nicely.

Agreed. And beware the kind of pleco if you do try to go that route. Many common varieties get way too large for many tanks.

Bingo.........The problem with plecos are as they grow, they do less and less algae eating....most are even canivorous, and will start eating the other fishes food and leave the algae alone......

You can't go wrong with a Prochilodus (Flagtail)....non stop rasping on glass and everything else for algae....

Good luck
