I just got this guy for 45.00 Canadian :WHOA: As you can see he is banged up; he was in a tank with one other tiger that was about an inch bigger than him :( I was actually going to buy the bigger fish but when the fish guy tried to catch the litte devil the atf tried to fly, unsuccessfully :( Sorry about the pics

That guy looks like he was in a bar fight or something. How long have you had it?

I have only had him for two days but he has eaten three feeder fish so far

Poor thing.. don't be too worried though, they're quick healers. My first one was pretty bashed up when i got him, but he's boss of the tank now.

That is good to hear, his condition made me reluctant in putting money down on him but he is the first atf I have seen.

I wonder why they always seem beat up? It seems as though every picture I see of an ATF, they all look like they been in a war. Think it is shipping, tank mates, or shipping and shipping mates?

He still has some damage on top near his dorsal fin but I am very happy with his progress. His quick recovery probably has to do with his very large appitite, 4 or so feeders a day. On a side note it was 8 days between the two sets of pics I forgot dec 31.

how big is this little bugger gonna get? I know goliaths get huge but how about the other 2 species kept?

I guess it is all the survival of the fittest...being higher up in the food chain..they do have better recovery rate and able to withstand harsher environment...

anyway..good fish! cannot wait till it gets into its monster size!

I think the coloration of the yellow/red tail is a factor of either the mood that it's in or water condition. Reason being is that I recently had an 10+" ATF that had more of a yellow hint to it. Specially the tail. I traded him to a LFS who has a show tank and when I was their recently he was totally differen't in coloration. His tail was blood shot RED. It's never colored up on me like that ??? Not one time he was in my possesion ?
