hey everyone just wanted to show the pic of my new lima shovelnose. I looked for a more exotic cat for my 220 gallon but in colorado we don't see some of the exotics that other states do so I decided that this was the cat for me. He is about 4.5" long and eating great already. I am growing him out and quarantining him in my 29 gallon for a couple weeks but I will move him soon. I am curious if you guys think I should buy another of the same size or not? I have my arowana, 4 lined pictus cat, gold nugget pleco and freshwater moray eel so far. would 2 lima be to many or not? well thanks in advance and here is a pic

Keep in mind that Limas can get 30 inches though most often not over 18.

I did alot of reasearch on this fish and never found that they attain a lenght of 30". although they might reach that length in the wild if they live a very very long time. I have him quarantined right now but he will go in with my silver aro, gold nugget pleco, freshwater moray, and four lin pictus cat.. I am trying to think of some good mid water fish to add but I want somthing fairly exotic does anyone have any thoughts?

The point is it can happen. I see and hear of too many people buying catfish that they can't care for the much above their initial purchase size. I even seen people releasing them around here. Lots of cats need to be researched before they are purchased and far too often they aren't and end up released into a lake or river only to potentially set off an Eco-bomb.

I have though about a peacock bass but I have read here that they will outgrow my 220. Is this true? also do they like to dig in the substrate or not because this tank is sort of difficult to reach the bottom in. I really like this fish though. thanks
