it died!
it dont know why either. i dont think it was the water in my tank though. it's stomach was sunken and i dont think it ate the food i put in there for it. i'll do a WC any ways bec i dont know how long it had been dead for. i might buy another 1 at the store on fri but i dont know.mine was the only 1 w/ those markings

i've had mine for awhile and he seems to love bloodworms (frozen). I offer algae wafers once a week or so as there is a lot of algae in the tank. But when those worms go in he comes out of hiding every time. If you get another maybe try some of the worms.

You might want to give your next pleco some places to hide at first so he won't go into as much shock from being moved and then thrown into a nearly bare tank with white substrate. Not saying that's what killed the first one but it's always a good idea to make new fish comfy as possible when introducing them into their new home. ;)
Sorry about the loss & better luck next time

sorry about your loss buddy. A couple things i would recommend. I have one of these and they do love blood worms. The guy who said something about the white substrate was right. You need to give some cave like shaded structure. That white substrate must have added stress to the plec. A nice piece of mopani wood should do it. feed at night and make the the temp is at the upper 70's. around 79-80. My opinion. This is what i do and mine is thriving, the most unbashful and active of my plecs. I also work at a lfs so ive come across alot of rare plecs.

Just read the rest of the topic... sorry for your loss. BTW, this species is not herbivore... My sultan used to eat meat very well. Actually, it ate two pieces of chicken meat while still in the bag it came fro the LFS. But my RTCxTSN cat thought it should taste good and ATE it. It didn't even noticed the pleco's spiny armour... :swear:
Best regards.
Daniel.

Sorry for your loss :(
ALWAYS check the belly of a plec before you buy it. If it's hollow either leave it there or get some kind of a guarantee from the shop. So many plecs get imported with hollow bellies and subsequentley die, its gutting.

nice pick up
cause if it is sunk then the pleco is undernourished, and or ill. basically happens when they don't feed, its always better to pick a pleco without a hollow belly, more likely to survive

Loach is being reasonable your tank doesn't look too pleco friendly, how about rockery, places to hide, plants changed of substrate to something a littel darker and less course too, then use lots of pleco wafers and live and freeze dried foods, also check your water for contaminants and then you shoudl do well with the next ones, best of luck was a lovely fish, sur your next ones will be fine.

In my experience, L264's are very temperamental. If you let your water quality go too much, or do to large of a water change, or just not often enough water changes, they will not do well. Often ending in death of these little guys, if you have them frequent 10-25% water changes are better than 50% once a week.
Sorry about your loss

another cause of sunken stomach is sometimes in internal parasite. If it has a sunken stomach I stay away.
