View Full Version : RTC x TSN
I found one that was about 3 inches long or so that they were selling for $20. Good deal? There was only one in the tank, and it looked healthy. What do these usually run cost wise?

I paid $22 for that size.
Ok, I just want to do some looking around and asking questions. How fast do they grow? I know the rtc's grow fast, but I don't know much about tsn's other than diet and water parameters etc.

can you please show pictures so we can tell if it would be worth your money?
I didn't have my cam with me. It was in good shape, healthy, swimming around, no ich or visible diseases. Also a nice little pattern on it. This store is a bit away and I'm driving to PA tomorrow, so going there now is kind of not going to happen. lol

If the right parent fish is male, and the right parent fish is female, hybrid vigor should take place- in theory. Making the fish grow faster, more immune to disease, consume more and succeed more. However, lots of specimens do not exhibit these characteristics, so only time will tell. Be prepared to have a HUGE tank/pond soon and make sure you don't have any small fish.
Good luck

My understanding is that the RTC and TSN both naturally grow extremely fast. I had a RTC x TSN for a little while and that little guy put on about at least 1.5-2" a month easy. That little guy could sure eat.
RTCxTSN are awesome fishes.. but the caveat is that you have a extremely large fish - as both individually can easily grow over 3 feet.
