I was at the fish store today and saw that 2 gold nugget plecos were for sale. When I went to buy one I noticed that one had many small yellow spots (like a peppermint) and the other had fewer larger yellow spots (like a snowball). I ended up getting the larger spotted one. :woot:
My question is, were they both gold nuggets? Do they come in various spot formations? or was there a mislabeling of some sort on the petshops part?
I also have a common pleco on my tank, should I remove it? Will territory be a problem?

need a pic and i can look thru my atlas for u as for the common it all depends -usally the common will devour all the food before the nugget or snowball gets any also the nuggets and snowballs require a more precise diet so yes imo remove him
Golden nugget have 4 different L numbers. L-018, L-081, L-085 and L-177.. Main difference is size of the spots.. so yeah it might be all golden nuggets.

I believe the L018 GN gets the biggest.

from what my LFS told me the L-177 has a wider band of yellow and bigger yellow spot which is why it would be more expensive than the other types of gold nuggets. :) check it out at www.planetcatfish.com on their e-log
yup, jif is right.. if you got the large spots your's might be an L177 :)
