My daughter picked this one up for me in Chinatown in Boston although I wasn't looking for one at this time . I've had quite a few over the years but at about 7" and growing fast this one has a very bad attitude . She bought it as a red pike . I believe it is a Johanna .
This is the one and only picture I have taken of it . I will get a better one as soon as I get a chance . Building a new house and don't have time to do any of the things I enjoy right now .

I don't have the time right now to set and wait to get a good shot so I snapped a couple more this morning . The darn thing keep getting right under a big severum and stays their blocking my flash . Makes it very hard to get correct focus and enough light . I promise some nice shots when I have a chance to set down and work at it .

here's my orange when i first got him. Got him from a lfs was a trade in. he refused to eat and got a lil skinny then when i was out of town my water quality fell of a bit and he got a bit stressed. He's doing much better now. I'll post another pic or two once i fatten him up again :D

Not many , dwarf crenicichla are sort of an offshoot of my main intrest which is apistos. (monsters:D in thier own right!) i've got the two you've seen and a few youngsters which are really hard to photo but i got a few really bad photots just now so you can see

hi, i was hoping someone here could help me identify my new pikes, bought them as punctata and reticulata.. i truly appologise for the crappy quality on the pictures but it was the best i could do.. ill try to take som better ones later, but they are pretty small and rather shy.. i have 3 rio xingu I form before but these guys are way to big to be with my latest and ill try to post some pics of them later.. Great site by the way, not many here in norway that are into pikes :screwy: great fish

I got this cobra pike a couple months ago at about 4 inches. He is now about six inches. I got him for $30, but my friend had to lend me $5 to buy him. As a result, I let him name the fish.

It's definitely not strigata. Both the the caudal spot and humeral spot are ocellated in strigata.

The more it grows the more I think it is probably sp. "Venezuela".

First 2 pics ~ our 'special' red face/cheek lugubris. Huge gold eyes, just started showing light green mottled body markings in the last 2 weeks! He's about 10", has a really good personality.

Last 2 pics ~ Xingu 1 pair. Male almost 12", his fins are really red! Female is really red with a crisp, brilliant white dorsal stripe. Would be nice if they decide to breed!

All these pics make me want to get another pike--- I had an sp. Venezualan(spelling) a few years back the guy at the lfs was selling it as a tiretrack eel and I knew it was a good guy for 10 bucks. When I got her she was maybe 5" and when I sold her a few years ago she was close to 13-14". Beautiful pikes everyone!!!

hi, i was hoping someone here could help me identify my new pikes, bought them as punctata and reticulata.. i truly appologise for the crappy quality on the pictures but it was the best i could do.. ill try to take som better ones later, but they are pretty small and rather shy.. i have 3 rio xingu I form before but these guys are way to big to be with my latest and ill try to post some pics of them later.. Great site by the way, not many here in norway that are into pikes :screwy: great fish

They came in smaller than Ken had been told they would be, but they still look great. I picked up 2...taking a gamble, but at those prices, just couldn't get the normal-sized group.

Yes, that's hair algae...the bane of my existence! There's a rock under the algae, somewhere. The fish don't seem to mind it, but it gets into the impellers on the filters, and is a royal pain to clean out. The only fish I have that will touch it are a breeding pair of Amphilophus hogaboomorus, and they didn't eat it...they just needed to clear a spawning site. Anyway, I won't complain: my water is great out of the tap for most of my fish...but there's something in there that the algae loves, too.

Just a few from tonight's fun (I moved all the cichlid tankmates out of the 125 where my Crenicichla menezesi have spawned, to improve the chances of fry survival (assuming the eggs hatch)):

Photo quality is a little better than the shots of the eggs that I posted a few days ago, but still not perfect.

Before moving the pikes into this tank, it had housed some Central Americans...and I only this evening remembered that I had some crushed coral in the filter to buffer the water. I have removed that, and replaced it with peat...hoping that the eggs will be viable. :thumbsup:

I don't think he would take to a partner unless I had a 300 (180 at the least) and LOTS of wood, pipes, etc...

The funniest thing is it hasn't touched a barely 2" rhino pleco but has eaten 2" bass, hartwegi and somethin else.

I'm ready this time if Infinte Aquatics (or anyone) gets them in for that price again.

here r some of my pikes... not easy to get a hold of them here in norway thats for freekin sure... :irked: here r my bellycrawlers and my xinguI.. and a pic of my norwegian pike-tank setup, in it i have 4 bellycrawlers and one xinguI, i have 4 more xingu's but they r still pretty small so they cant join yet, they need to grow som more first.
