I had the same experiance, i tried live foods for my fahaka once and he got ick and he was really sick for about a month or so but finily pulled thru, now all i feed him live are snails and fresh water clams and the odd batch of ghost shrimp.

I've had puffer for years and I stay away from feeder fish but I do feed them crayfish, ghost shrimp, clams, and kind of little crabs. All so salad shrimp from the grocery store works very well. I like feed frozen better becausae its easier to get awholed of.

Puffers get disease just as easy as clown loaches and anyother scaleless fish. for Ick bump your temp up to about 79-82 can use a half dose of a non-copper based ich med.

i dont recommend live feeders

they need hard crunchy food like clams, snail, crabs, etc etc

puffer teeth grow constantly and need a supply of crunchy food to keep em in check

I use snails and crab and stuff. Some live snails, but usually broken.
