Thanks. I wish I could get a clear shot of my Beani.

Beanis, carpitinis, cuban and grammodes are just growouts. The carpintis is the fatest growing fish out of the group.

i was wondering the same thing about aggression. also how bad is the mota with tankmates? i have a small male mota 3-4 in. and he will not accept tankmates, although he is in a growout tank not my large tank.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

The argentea is about 4 years old.

There is no aggression issue in the tank. The argentea sometimes pushes other fish around but inflicts on real damage.

Why do we keep cichlids? Because they do backflips and wash dishes. If you're really quiet you can hear them talk of world dominaton in German accents... Weird, I know, because they are of Central american descent.

it's like asking why some people like bichirs - what's so nice about a log shaped fish that eats and chutes around most of the time?

cichlids have the most complex and interesting behaviors out of probably all fish that we keep.

but at the end of the day it's about personal preferences...
