Has any one heard of this fish? I just got off the phone with my local lfs and the lady said it doesn't have a scientific name. I'm thinking it could be a hybrid. p.s. I'm pretty sure the lady knows her fish.

Impossible to say without a picture, dude. There are so many similar looking geo's and gymnogeo's, too.

I'll have to go there and get a pic. They are still in quarantine so she won't let me buy one yet.

Geos and Sevs will be a good combo.:)
The satanoperca are not a fav of mine just cause they never get any color.
I'd love a Leucosticta or Jurupari :p
Can't say I've ever heard of any Eartheaters being referred to as 'Blue', sounds dodgy, but I guess the lack of common names for Geophagus and related species causes people to come up with stupid crap like that. Only Eartheaters I can really think of that has solid blues is Heckelii, their caudal fins are can be a solid light blue colour under the correct lighting.

Brasillensis can appear blue under the right light, but they're pretty aggressive and aren't really a geo by temprement.

Depends on where they are from. Here are some S. jurupari I had a few years ago. At the time of these pics they were about 4 years old and maybe 5 inches. Most get anywhere from 8-12 inches though.
