I just aquired a huge SA lung, maybe a little over three feet long. It can reach the surface of my 30" height 220 without streching out. Had it imported from our Peru supplier. Guy only charged me for a 50-60cm specimen too! I paid 140.00 (Canadian), most of which was the freight, as it took up a whole box. I really have to get my GF to show me how to take/post pictures, I'm kind of a technological caveman. Next I really have to get that Aussie lungfish......

Congrats! Sounds like you are collecting the two "community lungfish" species, i.e., Lepidosiren paradoxa (South American lungfish) and Neoceratodus forsteri (Queensland lungfish). I have a 24" Lepidosiren and I love it! It's keep with an assortment of bichirs and catfish and has never chomped anyone to my knowledge. :)

I actually have a 24" Annectens that lives peacefully with a number of 10-12" polys and catfish.

Hey Simon. Where in Canada are you? I am in Toronto and never see any SALs. I am importing an Aussie, though, and waiting for it to arrive is driving me nuts.

It's in the 220, I moved the annectens out. I live in Oakville. I imported the SA from one of our Peru suppliers (I work at Big Als Oakville). Damn, I want an Aussie too, but don't have the money (yet). Also have to convince the GF that I should spend 1000.00 on a fish.

He just got over a nasty fungus/bacterial thing too. I was quarantining him first, But he took a dump so large it burned out the filter......So I put him in the big tank. Then the annectens got the fungus, so he's out in a seperate tank recovering. I've never seen a lung sick before, I have a suspicion that it has something to do with changeing water hardness and heavy metal present in tap water. I had a similar problem with my big electric eel (who unfortunately did not recover).

Ah, I see. That is a pretty impressive store with some very cool display tanks. I have not been there in a while but visited a couple of times when it first opened.
