This is the new temporaly home for my two gigas.
1 - The pool:

2 - Filling it up:

3 - The filter:

4 - The owners of the place: Ozzy the largest and Zack the smallest:

Specs:
The "tank" has about 1000 liters (264 us gallons). But filled up just a bit more than half.
The "homemade" filter is in a plastic bottle, with 5 bricks, a fence and some "potato bags" to keep the waste, making it easy to clear. The water bomb is a Sarlobeter 650. And working together is a 3 fase filter with another Sarlobeter 650.
The fishes are: 2 gigas (Ozzy has about 23 to 24 cm. and Zack has about 16 to 17cm.), a TSN (commonly known here as Surubim Pintado) and about 130 lambaris (some feeder fishes).
Till now, they all are getting along very fine, the gigas always together, and the tsn always hidden.

This is it for now, try to keep you updated.

In a year, maybe, Me and my parents are gone moving, so in the new place I'll make a better and bigger tank.
That's why I have to make this temporaly home.

:D I named before I went to Ozzy Osbourne show in São Paulo.
The older giga already got that name but the newer one come after.
It's a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and Zack Wilde. maybe foolish, but I really liked that.:headbang2
Os, and the TSN is called Tony (Iommi - guitar from Black Sabbath).

About their sizes, right now they are fine, and I think I can hold on some more time. Untill move in to other place and construct a larger tank, that for now is just a project (Don't even have the "design" of it).
And sure I"ll let all update.

Hi everyone
After a short time, I'll make some update on my pimas.

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=47367&size=1
Both of them a little bigger, with one of the TSN (a little bigger too).

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=47368&size=1
This is the small one, Zack.

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=47369&size=1
And this is the biggest one, Ozzy. In this photos they don't look so grownup, but they are really growing.
Time to buy some more feeders to them.
BTW, Ozzy is the one that ate two kois last week:headbang2

How did you come by them?

Are you having any trouble with the metal hose clamp I see in one of your photos?
It looks like stainless steel.....but it looks like it might have some corrosion on it.
Those Pimas are magnificent!

till now there's no corrosion, maybe its because the photo.

to yanbbrox, I bought them in a LFS, legalized. At least, its a lfs with more than 20 years in the same place, with the same owners. I'll try to take better shots from them

Thanks for the reply, how are the plans going for a permanent home? Your going to need a huge amount of space/tank/pond to grow them on into adults?

Jakob

How big are they (")

BaTsBR

Liz - they really are magnificient creatures, try to take a look at them everyday. check the water parameters, that kind of stuff. And gain a lot of just looking at them.

yanbbrox - the plans of a permanent home is a bigger tank in a new house. At least 5000 liters I think its possible. 'Course they need more space than that, so I'll try to make things right, making possible to update the tank size.
I won't be able to have bigger tanks like johnptc or zoodiver, but I'll try to make my "babies" happy.

and Jakob - the right size I don't know, but I think Ozzy, the bigger one should have about 30cm to 32cm. and Zack (smallest) should be 23cm to 28cm. not quite sure.

I truly hope it works out for you and the gigas, personally I'd be worried about keeping them into old age

yeah, I already got worried about it too.
and I'm starting to make some plans. When they got older, or IF I cannot give them a nice tank, I'm plannig to give them to a local aquarium like Guarujá Aquarium (they already got some gigas there and its a nice tank).

You have got to have the coolest parents ever to let you have fish that will get that big. If I was still living at home My stepdad allreay told me that if I was going to do a huge tank like your 700+ he would try to put fish in it so he could go fishing. lol
