My favorites are V.Syn, Bifasiactum, Midas, Pollenis and Flowerhorns.
Cant stand the holier than thou attitude of some who hates hybrids. LOL
I love Geophagus to complement monster tanks.. they make

yeah a cichlid is a cichlid wether its hybrid or not. cant stand those people either. they are the ones who never keep a mutt either, only keeping something that costs them an arm and a leg. Piranah 45 why you in a cichlid room anyway.

At the moment the only cichlids I really like are:
All Peacock Bass species and variants and the Emperor cichlids.
I want the Monster ones!
I used to keep and breed Africnas, but they are too small for me now. wish they grew bigger. Would be awesome to see a 24" Electric Blue Ahli. lol

many would say 180g would be fine, i would say at least 240g though for a 15" adult. They're like small peacock bass.

Obviusly you have had neither. Both are open water predators with large caudal fins. The fastest...probably not. But slow. No.

Nah, I don't like Central American cichlids too much. They are cool but are too agressive. Can't pack my tanks with them.
Like I said I like Emps and Pbass, but I like Africans. Colorful and I can pack them in a tank like crazy.

Incorrect.
Dovii are not open water swimmers like Cichla.. you obviously have no idea whats going on.. Check out the mouth structure of all guapotes... Evolution has granted them very large retractable jaws used for ambush.. They do not engage in high speed pursuits such as Cichla do.
I have kept quite a few dovii.. I see no difference between Dovii and lets say, convicts when it comes to speed. Doviis Ambush prey... Cichla charge prey.
here is a video of my old Peacocks rollin some Feeder fish.. you WILL NOT see a dovii even come close to something like this..

I agree. Peacock bass are fast!! Other cichlids are "normal speed" LOL!
I've even kept Emperor cichlids which are open water pursuit predators and they cant compare to the speeds I've seen with peacock bass.

Your reputation precedes you. The word "match" takes an evolutionary back seat coming from your mouth. A rubber pool full of little goldfish being eaten by some average fish don't shed any light on the placement of their peg on the Cichlid ladder. I stand by my comments and my feelings toward your knowledge.
As always....your comments...water off a ducks back...keep talking, the breeze feels great.

It's Frontosas that are from deep water
There is one particular variant of the Parachromis Dovii that is found in deep water. It's the red form. The only specimen I have ever seen was at the University of Costa Rica. According to Bussing they are found in deep craters. No live specimens are available. The redc oloration almost makes it look like a Snook.

Anyone who has had a cichla over 18 inches will agree with me.
Dovii have a very large retractable jaw used for quick ambush. Cichla have power/speed to help run down fleeing prey.
my video says it all. i would like to see an "AM production" showing a Dovii exploding with the energy you see with the cichla.
AP- yea, its easier to walk away then stand up. see ya :thumbsdow
