So I bought and Arowana yesterday, on sale at Petco for 14.00$. It was a bad impulse purchase but I just couldn't resist.
Anyway, what the hell do I feed it? It's been eating rosy-red minnows and meal worms (really soft ones that just shed).
well, all of my fishes feed mainly on live black worms, shrimp, and squid.
I'm sure your arowana will eat the above food as well.

Matter of preference like cockbass said. I use krill e for coloration and cut
up shrimp. Bulk up like crazy if you use those. I dont feed pellets anymore. .
cant compare pellets to shrimp and krill.

I see healthier fish when I feed live foods.

Agreed. Cant be bothered with live foods since all we have here in the us is dirty, parasite infested goldfish and minnows. Dont want crickets because theyre noisy and you have to take the legs out or youll have cockroach looking legs floating in your tank.
Live tropical fish is actually the best diet for aros. Thats mostly what aros get fed with in asia and they grow more than an inch a month on that.

Thanks for all the advice. I agree totally with feederfish being filthy animals, trust me I know I used to work for Petco. I keep my feeders in a seperate tank and at least feed them for a few days before I give them to my predators.

it isnt tt good.
channa have hard bodies and are hard to digest for aros.
Frogs and Shrimp are better staples.

try hikari tropical foodsticks. those worked for me when I had my silvers. try not to get it used to feeders it might get spoiled and if it wont take the food sticks try to starve it for 2 days and see how that works for you

most younger aro's eat freeze dried krill. later on you can put more variety into their diet.
