So my Climbing Perch after shredding a blind cave fish have gone on a killing rampage . . .I've had to take everything out of their tank except for a rubber eel (the only occupant they've left alone). Does anyone know a good fish that will fit in a 40g with them that can hold their own . . .in all the research I did on the fish before getting them nothing suggested they would be that aggressive . . . have a fish in intensive care in a hospital tank trying to nurse him back despite having lost all his fins, and I don't want to go through that again.

Not too many people have Climbing Perch, but everyone I had talked to said they were generally peaceful as long as the other fish weren't terribly much smaller than them, which these fish weren't, so I wasn't prepared for the blood in the water. At least they ignore the rubber eel which is the most expensive thing in there, but I really wanted to put some maintenance fish in with them and I'm worried they're just gonna get tore up and I don't have any room in other tanks to put them if the Perch won't coexist.

From what I've read, the perch don't get too big, and generally live in ditches, small puddles of water anyways.
live plants in a bucket of water works

I keep mine with clown loaches, skunk botia, redtail sharks, redfin sharks, yoyo loaches, bichers, ctenopoma, archerfish, festivums, angelfish etc. all are close to the same size. The climbing perch are not the dominant fish but they like to pick on who they can. I have tried them with combtail (belontia signata) and the combtails love to attack their eyes.

It doesn't help that it was a blind cave fish. They are known to get picked on alot. Even seemingly peaceful fish may pick on one of those.

I've had 30 living together with dats and royal plecos. Never any aggression.
