Picked up from petco for $2.99. Originally thought it was an albino electric yellow, Now I can't decide. Please provide scientific name if possible. Thanks!
Can't get a good pic of the little snot. He is always moving. He is approximately 1/2 inch in with a 1 inch YBSxRES.

I dont think so , it looks like a albino peacock juvie. Im 99.99 sure. Look at the shape of the dorsal fin and the belly and head. Its a peacock (auloncara ), which one im not sure but it resembles my albino strawberry peacocks (they are a hybrid of several auloncara albinos) with the pink and yellows. check it out:

The difference is in the mouth, the fish he has pictured has the mouth of a mbuna no that of an alonocara, plus it lacks the broken coloration in the tail and anal fins of peacocks.

Okay so I wanted to know for sure so I took one of his pictures and adjusted the exposure on it. I tried to bring out more of the fishes natural color, It really looks like it lacks some of the paterns that the albino peacocks have. Ya'll tell me.

bump to continue the debate. If it matters, to the naked eye, it has verticle barring that you can not see in any of the pics

Does it have markings on the fins like cichlidgirl's albino peacocks?

I still say albino zebra.

Zebra, mouth too round to be a peacock.
Agreed. An albino zebra. The shape is totally wrong from aulonocara and can't be albino yellow labs. Albino yellow labs are very rare and I doubt that petco supplies them.
Here is a pic just to convince you.

My juvies dont have those patterns on the tail and fins etc. they have very faint see through vertical banding when juvies that pretty much disappears as the fish gets over 3-4 inches. My juvies are pale versions of the parents with a bit of pale yellow on some fins and some have eggspots on the anal fins.

Here are some pics of the couple i have left. I believe the fish in this thread is bigger than mine . Mine is not quite one inch now.

Although you are probably right, it isn't a yellow lab, I disagree with your reasoning. I found him in the "assorted african":screwy: tank, and he was the only one. I know petco doesn't supply these.

So the general opinion is that it is an albino red zebra and a 1/100 chance it is a peacock?

Im not sure anymore , if the fish is that small i suggest you wait till one or two inches then if your still not sure ask again. Fry are very hard to ID
