marboroman its a albino channa striata. (striped snakehead aka common snakehead)

well snakeheads are not so common so the name is kinda misleading

are you sure it's a striata? I have a 9 inch albino striata, and if that was my fish all of those fish would be dead right now, with half their flesh missing.

Maybe mine is just particularly nuts.

it is a albino striata... wat else would it be. and as for the fish being ripped in half. i always find feeders ripped in half floating around. the SH does punk the other fish but don't kill them because
1. they are too big to eat.
2. my SH is still a baby.
3. those fish have been together ever since i bought him.

When my snakehead was around 2 inches it whacked an almost 4 inch spotted gar, and since then it has killed everything it has been in with including convicts, texas, jag, dovii, almost killed an endlicheri.

I don't know what else it would be, I've always thought mine was a striata but I'm beginning to think stewartii because of it's huge fantail.

Cool fish, how did you get it to lie down like that for the pic? :)

my SH is really chill. rarely shows aggression except for feeder fish and his arch-enemy tiger oscar that he almost killed.

my SH gets scared by everyone else but he seems to recognize me. he greets me when i come in through the door or leave the house. comes to the side and looks at me as i put my shoe on or take it off. (i take off the shoes cuz im asian =P) lol!!!!

and rumblefish u got a nice striata too.. how big is it?
i think both ours are definetly a striata. well atleast im sure mine is because its growing way too fast. but i could be wrong and if i am MAYBE we have a new species! :headbang2

pUHAHA i wish....... :(

Nice pics, aren't they (snakeheads) just beautiful?
They have this kind of primitive/reptilian look, and their eyes sometimes just scare the hell out of me.When my snakeheads grow that big, I'll try to post some pics 2!

Hi,

all the Pics that were posted here are 100 % Channa Striata. When they get older(bigger) they will kill enything in the tank....@ Rumblesushi I really don't think that that yours ist a Stewarti a Stewarti wouldnt kill jag, dovii etc. they only gow about max 30 cm and feed more on Insects and smaller fishes... a friend of mine has breed them often.

The only ALBINO Snaekehead i've ever seen in trade is the Albino Striata they are cultured(is this word right??? ;) ) in Asia.

i have a friend who has a albino striata and at 7inch its had to be put on its own becos thay couldnt trust it with any think in the same tank plus it gose for his hand when doing water changes.
you say it wouldnt go for any think becos its to big, ummm i think you might be wrong,i have a 20inch long obscura put it in a tank with a 24inch tsn thinking the same as you it wouldnt go for the tiger WRONG BIG TIME it went for it and kept at it all the time bashing it about untill it was very stressed.
the tsn had to be taken out before it was killed.

fair point mate but large snakeheads are not sociable fish so in the long run it will turn at some point and have ago.
