I saw today my male ? xingu 1 chase and bit half of the tail of my F1 male Geophagus iporangensis and then proceed to eat it in front of him !

I have moved the Geo into its own tank with some melafix to help heal its wounds !

You gota love pikes !

That sucks and kinda funny too! I like both species. Hope the Geo heals back to normal:)

wow i wouldn't put those 2 toether cause of aggression hope the geophagus is okay

Wow! That's one aggressive Xingu I!

Bummer. I guess the pike got annoyed that the geo. was always thinking that his poop didn'stink, so the pike bit his tail off. LoL.

Seriously though, hope it heals up for you. Generally, most Crenicichla don't do so hot with Geo/Satanoperca...lol.

He is doing fine in the hospital tank and is eating well i am sure he will be fine.

The pike in question shows no other aggresive nature to any other of his tank mates Caquetaia and Hoplarchus psittacus

I guess he just didnt like Geo's !

Would love to see that tank man! :D You've got three of my fav. species in there! Crenicichla, Caquetaia, and Hoparchus! Can't get better than that tank! :D Well, maybe a little better. Chaetobranchus and Mesonatus would finish it off superbly! :D

Glad the Geo is doing better, hopefully it will make a speedy recovery!
