Ok i know you guys probably HATE this kind of question cuz i know i do, but i have to ask it so sorry. Are there any kinds of Rays that will do alright in a 75 gallon tank? I was thinking Orbiginyi (im sure the spelling sucks) or Reticulated? Also how many and which rays would i be able to put in a 265 (84x24x30) gallon tank with 2 Red Bellied Pacu? Would anything work? My RBs are GENTLE GIANTS so please dont say that they will hurt the rays!!!!!

You could use a 75 g as a grow out tank. There are a lot of experienced ray keepers out there using 75 or something smaller to grow out rays. I even have a friend that grows out a flower ray in a 35!! You can pull that off with most rays providing that
the disc size is small say 6 inches , you have plenty of filtration and you are willling to make several water changes a week and test the water frequently.
With regards to pacu, they are ultra curious fish that have a voracious appettite. It could prove to be a disastrous combination with rays. It could be done in a real monster tank. but on a large tank its a risk. Plus they eat and poop a lot so they can foul the water up real quick.

How many Hystrixs can you put in a 265 gallon tank by themselves if i move the Pacus out? What would be good dither fish for them?

the biggest i ever seen was 10-11 inches
so go figure
i would do something like 2 males and 4 females
thats if your willing to keep up on waterchanges.
the biggest u see for sale from importers?(jon and david) is around 6-7" maxx

i had 3
i think was the most 'user friendly' ray
-very hardy
-readly feeds on anything
-stay small
im thinking of getting 3 more :uhoh:

Potamotrygon hystrix are quite good rays. :headbang2
Hystrix would be great to start off with, but they can easily max out at 14 inches across.
That size tank will work for a few, provided it is filtered properly and you keep up on your water changes.
84x24x30 would be ok for the first few years.
As far as pacu goes. They are big and stupid. All it takes is something to spook them and like rockets they fly into your rays. I can see them doing a lot of damage that way.

There are some good conversations in there. It is an MFK stingray history lesson, as well as some interesting perspective. I wish good threads came back more often. :D
