Hi, i recently bought a Royal knife fish it was only 5cm when i got him, he is now about 10cm but has not yet formed strips he has dots like a clown, do the strips appear when they get bigger or have i got a clown?

he looks like a regular clown knife but it may be the flash or light bounceing off him what color is he to the eye is he goldish or blackish kinda. im gussing u were riped off and u got a regular clown knife

He is a silver colour all the way through.

This is actually my fish.

Me and Tom bought these knives from the same supplier who said that they are royals but we are starting to beleive that they are clowns.

I wouldnt say we were ripped off though. We got a good price either way ;)

well i didnt mean rip off in a mean way its just the plan old clown knife's

Yup clown knife. Juvie clowns have the pattern of a royal then the stripes turn into spots IME

I was told the reverse.

All juvie knives show spots of clowns then later turn into stripes if it is a royal :confused:

Can someone confirm this??

I'm 99% certain they go from stripes to spots. I would do a search and find out but I'm at work.....I need to get something done lol. Perhaps later i'll check and see :thumbsup:

that is definatly a regular clown. They never have spots if they are a royal.

Im thinking Reg clown Knife. A very nice fish. Mines around 12-14" now.
