Hi,
I think thats a Channa Gachua- "Kerala 5 stripe"
nice looking animal,I wish I could get my hands on a group of those critters.

Goodgene:
Hard to say by the photos (they're not the best :-) )
To me it looks like Parachanna Africana (or maybe P. Insignis) - but if it's wildcaught in Asia it must be some other species...
Cheers,
Peter

HI,
100% Channa sp. "fife stripe", or Channa "kerala" or Channa "umangii"
No gachua !!
Stands nearer to the stewartii group, but recently undescribed yet.
Is not that big fish eater. But nevertheless, if he catches one he will eat it.
The smaller species of snakeheads are mor in the insects/shrimp/worm diet.

around 24cm max in aquarium , also sub tropical so no heater req,d , may or may not accept other channa as tankmates ,but as with all channa its a risk , allways be ready to split up if need be , the best tank mates for this fish is other sp. five stripe , they also like to hide a lot and should be provided with many hiding spots to feel comfortable , i have found sp. five stripe to be one of the shyer channas

yes i agree. they love to hide. i also mix it with bleheri in the same tank and it always trying to attack my bleheri. i have decide to trade in with the shop keeper for another bleheri. hope they are different sex so they can breed.
there is just one problem with that
you live in singapore and bleheri is subtropical
if you do not cool your subs in the winter and keep them at high temps permanently they will become ill
basicly their head will start to rott
some subs do enjoy warm water for times of the year but that is not permanent situation like you have in singapore
you would be better of trying to get some tropical channa from the gachua complex, orientalis, bankanensis, melasoma, pleurophthalma etc etc etc.
those are from equatorial regions and will fare well all year round in singapore
