Duck Tape safe?

I would not use duct tape under water in my aquarium. Components in the adhesive can leach out. Try a temporary fix with fishing line or a white cotton thread. Maybe a rubber band. If you have teflon tape in your tool box, that is good, too!

Next time I catch myself reaching for a rubber band and a piece of mesh from an old net, I'm gonna steal that idea Harley!
 
naw man, no strings or thread would work. I had already sealed it once with silicone but that came loose today while I was cleaning it so thats why I was looking for a tape solution.

I was able to find some long plastic tubing that I cut and put a filter bag over til i can get to the store tomorrow (today).

Ill remember all the sugs though for later or others.

I'd say they're safe, since they are based on natural rubber. Not that everything natural is safe, but in this case, as a temp fix for one night, I wouldn't be too worried.

I have used electrical tape in a salt tank to cover a siphen tube to block light from growing algae in the tube. I never noticed any ill effects in my corals or fish.
