Yes it was deleted. Why, I don't know, but if you have pics of your animals that you want to show, post them here. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147726
This is the new photo thread, for this section.

Unless you were talking about this. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147827
Problem is that I already made a photo thread where you can post snakes, so it was closed.

There is no need to have two photo threads on top of what everyone posts individually

Well, this topic was one of many that were discussed last week regarding all the stickied threads. There were like 12+ of them, and some of them needed consolidation.
The photo threads were long, and while yes, many did participate in them, it was very difficult for someone to locate any one particular picture, and it takes time to sort through X pages (I dont even remember how mnay it was, but it was enough to keep me from viisting the thread). So per my suggestion, I suppose the mods decided that:
A.) if you want everyone to see your entire collection, simply post all photos in your user gallery. That's what its there for after all.
B.) if you get a new pet, and want to show off a few pics (not 20) of it, just simply make a new thread for it.
Those photo threads were just too huge and disorganized to keep with.

What are you saying Jason?
I was saying that I too at the time was wondering how all those pics were deleted.Im not PMing everyone on this for each reason but as ophi mentioned it being hard to find one pic, well,I never cared to,I liked scrolling and looking at nothing but snakes from members I talk to all at the same time. Now I have to go and search through every freaking page to find whos got pics of what.Same thing with the lizards. If I was in a lizard mood I would spend time just scrolling through your guys pics like a book but it was ppl I knew or could talk to.I see the other thread for pics of your exotics but as much as I like ferrets and such I dont want to see a million of them before I find a snake or liz or frog.Somethings going on here and I know its cool to consolidate a bit if you dont have the time to moderate everything but I feel like theirs something more.Varanio are you just realy short handed right now?If Davo was back would all this even be a big deal?It really seems to me that their are more ppl that liked certain threads than not.I understand you guys need to be on top of this stuff all the time and their was some clutter but I thing their was more clutter in the regular threads than in the stickys.Im just a little confused here, those of you who disagree with me then Im sorry,so were not the same,I still care very much about you guys, but I think it was all decided fairly fast without very much input from other members.Even with their input I feel it was just abolished.I just wanted this to point out Ive got a bad taste in my mouth and only used to get that in the lounge.Really could do without it here in the herps.

A-nobody wants to look at a bunch of dogs and cats in a gallery along with fish and such to finally find a snake or two.
B-this is even worse than trying to find one pic in a snake thread, this way if you wanted to see their pics you would have to search forever for their thread first.

Jason,
For each member, there is an option to create different albums within their gallery; i.e. one for herps, one for birds, one for nature, etc...however they want to do it. Personally, I don't think its that difficult to do. Its just a matter of people being lazy and not organizing their photos in this fashion that leads to your frustration, Jason. If more people did do this, you could be rest assured you could see every pet they have by viewing their member gallery regardless if you happened to miss their threads. IMHO, its a win/win situation; people can upload their images all at once and have them in one location (i.e. their user gallery, which, again, is what its for) without having a bunch of picture threads taking up space in the forums.
Maybe I'll revamp my gallery for your benefit this afternoon.

Maybe I'll revamp my gallery for your benefit this afternoon.I know what your saying,I just think you would still have to go and randomly guess who's pic gallery to look at.Im sorry for causing trouble if any,it just seemed cool before to have it all in one place from everyone.Peace out.Guess I just wont be happy with the decision but evidently the majority ruled. Thanks for the concern.

Jason if youre so frustrated with the way the pictures of snakes are being cluttered simply start an informative thread with pictures, and I will be more than happy to post it in a species profile type of sticky, but the conditions are that it remain informative....ie a profile of the animal habitat and diet. That way we kill two birds with one stone and people enjoy pics while they enjoy information on how to take care of the animal. Which all ties up to the discussion we had about making this a more informative area since there are alot of people here that come to get answers.

I dunno....my main complaint with the old threads wasn't the pics themselves (dont get me wrong, I like to look at pics too), but;
A.) Personally, I want to look at pics of other snakes besides ball pythons. It seemed like for every 5 pics of a BP, there was only one of another species. I'm sorry, but I get bored with ball pythons really quick. Now, some people may be different and prefer to look at other lizards besides bearded dragons and leopard geckos. See what Im saying
B.) I also had to scroll through comments of each image, which there coulda been 3-10 for each one. Thats partly what contribruted to the threads' excessive length. That gets old, too.
Now...going along the lines of what Varanio was saying....maybe just a more generalized picture thread? For example: Boas & Pythons in one, Cornsnakes & Ratsnakes, Kingsnakes & Milksnakes, other snakes, Geckos, Dragons (bearded, water, etc), Other lizards, Amphibians, Aquatic turtles, other Turtles/tortoises, Crocodilians, Inverts. Of course, if we go that route, we have the same problem as before, which is a freakin' lot of stickied threads.
I'm not 100% opposed to this idea, but we already have a sticky with articles, caresheets, etc. If another picture thread was started, I suggest prohibiting all posts that did not contain an image to cut down on the length and increase the ratio of substance.

Well, I guess I don't see the difficulty of it. There's not that many active members here in the Reptile, etc section that it would take you that long to view everyone's gallery. Of course, this is providing everyone starts using their gallery.
I can't speak for anyone else, but it took me less than an hour to create 5 albums and upload all my collection into their respective locations. No matter where I post, you can always click the "Personal Galleryright under my avatar and view my pics anytime you want...even if you missed my latest 'new snake" thread.
Another advantage (to me anyway) was that it was easier to upload a larger number of images at one time, as opposed to, in a post, having to access your photobucket account, and copy/paste the img URL...one by one for every image. Very time-consuming if you have more than a few pics. Just my extra $.02.
