yes it is almost always used for the bottom in common tanks

YES, but kinda hard to drill for sumps.

Yes some 55g are all tempered.

It's stronger for a given thickness but will shatter into little bits if you try to drill it.

they can be drilled just not easily and very ill advised if you have never done it
