Are they compatible with african cichlids? I want to get one at a lfs at 1-2 inches and would it eat 1.5-2 inch cichlids? Thanks.

Although some people keep them with cichlids, I personally would not. If you wanted to try it though, they are at a small size where it might work for awhile. Than the dat would be outgrown and outcompeted for food.

It wouldn't work, I tried it. If you put a big datnoid 6" + with similar size cichlid, the datnoid will beat them up. If you put a small datnoid with small cichlid, the cichlid will nip the fin and stress the datnoid out a lot. Then the datnoid will stay in a corner, turn black and won't eat.
