hmm a shadow?

here is one..

Two convicts are locked in a cell. There is an unbarred window high up in the cell. No matter if they stand on the bed or one on top of the other they can't reach the window to escape. They then decide to tunnel out. However, they give up with the tunneling because it will take too long. Finally one of the convicts figures out how to escape from the cell. What is his plan?

2 dislexics walk into a bra.... ok that's not a riddle but a joke :D

I travel the same path day after day,
a never ending loop that is to say.
I have many uses, many indeed,
for each I may travel a different speed. sure
I am commonly associated with an assembly line,
a transporter which can stand alone or be part of many in a vine.
I can move an object from point A to point B,
not a person is needed, leave it all to me.
I am furthermore found in many a store,
a helping hand to do a chore.
Now please tell me, if you will,
what am I, which hardly stands still?

Here is one:

I can sizzle like bacon,
I am made with an egg,
I have plenty of backbone, but lack a good leg,
I peel layers like onions, but still remain whole,
I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in a hole,
What am I?

Well hello there, new friends
It's a pleasure to meet you
I wonder if you'd indulge
The unique way I greet you

You see, I'm a player
Of a great many games
So instead of just telling you,
Maybe try guessing my name

Now to make this more fair
I'll give you some clues
For there are so many ways
That my name is used

My family is royal
Though as has oft been spoken
The headgear I once wore
Has since become broken

In my more playful moods
I might hide in a box
Or just run around, for
I'm nimble as a fox

But please don't misjudge me;
I'm not some lame slacker
I can work hard with a hammer
To become a road cracker

If I see you in trouble
At the side of the road
I'll be right there to help
If it eases the load

I'm brave in the darkness,
When it's black, call my name
But I get rather scary
When I'm high on a plane

All right, one last clue
Then let's call it a night:
I'll give you a grin
As an October light

So now that we've ended
This fun guessing game
Now can you tell me
Just what is my name?

One and halfscore, the posts are showing,
win, place, and show united is rejection as a marking;
the middle five of the whole, a type of setting,
the last eight is a man prone to writing.

Four in one, its middle two is a cannon booming,
with bursts of fire like a hundred stars dancing;
within that center is a country if you're looking,
a city you'll find,if you focus on the beginning.

Its first quarter is a letter with a greeting,
the next,a memory with one millennium missing;
then a duke,a prince or a king,
the last,an endless catch in the sport of fishing.

What is the word?

HERE'S THE ANSWER

The mark is the letter X in Greek writing,
the memory is Read-Only with its M lacking,
the royalty mentioned are male in being,
the fish is a CERO, its tail O missing.

The Greek letter is CHI,former its meaning,
ROMAN is a candle,a numeral or a font setting,
the city is ROMA, OMAN,the country just reminding,
the author is a ROMANCER, romance is his choosing.

CHI,RO,MAN, and CER,syllables we're adding,
CHI and ROMANCER, the eleven that were showing,
it is now clearer than the future he is telling,
that CHIROMANCER is the word and reading the future, his calling.

ANSWER:

He said:: "You'll sentence me to six years in prison."
If it was true, then the judge would have to make it false by sentencing him to four years. If it was false, then he would have to give him six years, which would make it true.
Rather than contradict his own word, the judge set the man free.

Correct their circles not a spiral like most would assume
At first glance it does look like a huge spiral, but If you focus on only one, you can see its a complete circle. Then move onto the next. After 2-3 I knew it was just a lot of circles, but yea its a little trippy. You should post more of those in the "Can you do it" thread!

1 & 4 were already answered......

2) Start with the 5g. empty. Fill the 3g pour it into the 5g barrel , you will have 2g of empty space in the 5g left. Fill the 3g again and fill the 5g. you will have 1 gallon left over in the 3g barrel.

3) 5....you have 4 different colors, the 5th sock has to match one of them no matter how many socks you have.

The sum of the 5th and 10th digits is a square number other than 9.

The 2nd digit is an even number.
Zero is in the 3rd position.

:DNext one for you math wizzes:

Car 1 started from Point A towards point B. At the same time Car 2 started from point B towards A. They crossed each other at point C. After which, Car 1 reached point B in another 9 hrs, and Car 2 reached point A in another 4 hrs. If both the cars maintained a constant speed throughout the journey, and the speed of Car 1 was 36 miles/hr(mph), then what was the speed of Car 2?

40.5?

Yoji_嬰孩
06-17-2008, 7:46 PM
Speed of Car 1 = 36 mph and the amount of time taken from point C to B = 9 hrs thus, the distance between C to B = 36 * 9 = 324 miles (I assume you got this far correct?)

Yoji_嬰孩

whats the answer?????????????

Yoji_嬰孩
06-17-2008, 7:51 PM
time taken by Car 1 to travel from A to C = a/36 and the time taken by car 2 to travel from B to C = 324/b. So since both the cars meet at C, then these two times are equal, a/36 = 324/b or b = 324 * 36/a =11664/a

idk, im not a math person. i drew out a lil line w/ 13 points and figured if point C to point B was 324 miles that point A to point C was 162 miles.. making it a 486 mile trip.
then idk what i did

easydoesit
06-17-2008, 8:05 PM
is that right so far, or is it wrong? if it's wrong im just hopeless.. but if what i said was right so far.. then my answer was wrong b/c i calculated it as a 468 mile trip instead of a 486 one by accident.

easydoesit

i cant PM you for some reason

Yoji_嬰孩
06-17-2008, 8:11 PM
The amount of time taken by Car 2 to travel from C to A can be described as a/b or a*a/11664. But it is given that Car 2 takes 4 hrs to travel from C to A. So you know a*a/11664 = 4 or, a*a = 46656
Now taking the square root on both sides, we get a = 216. So we end up with b=11664/216 = 54. Therefore the speed of Car 2 is 54miles/hr :D

easydoesit
06-17-2008, 8:53 PM
yoji i cant pm you for some reason but thanks for explaining that. i understood it after reading it a few times.. some parts i had to read more than a few times lol.
where i went wrong was pretty early(as you probably noticed).. i didnt think about "since both cars meet at C, then those 2 times are equal".. i didnt make the "a/36=324/b" equation and go from there.
if i did, i dont think i wouldve gotten much further on my own anyways though. thanks again.. i wouldve gone nuts trying to figure that out bc i wouldnt have been able to!
