mostly eartheaters in the tank though lol.
2 Surinamensis
5 Tapajos Red heads
1 Jurapari
2 Armatus
and 2 parrot fish.
Nice. What size are the Tapajos (pike right?) and Armatus? No fighting?
I want to try this combo too, except with just one of each with a Goliath.
Only prob is I have no extra tank incase the Tapajo gets brave on me

not a pike, they are geo's.
nope no fighting.. armatus is about 6" and the geo's are about 2.5-3".

ahah i am trying to get them to recognize me as food so i only give them 4 feeders a day. :popcorn:

hi guys I am new here. Here are a few pics of my Armatus. I have had him for about a month now. THe first pic is the day I received him and the others are from this week. He was just over 1.5" when I got him, now he is 4-4.5".

Bought at about an inch to an inch and a half. Biggest close to 7, the runt about 5. I still have 1 that's being stubborn. Other 4 took to smelt easily but the one starved for over 3 weeks. Charges the smelt but just won't take it. I broke down and gave it a few rosies.... ate within 10 seconds of them being released on his side of the tank (divided). His will is a LOT stronger than mine...... I'll teach it yet though....really don't have a choice.... Can't seem to sell the thing.

I was told that my guy stuffed down 9 minnows in about 5 min. I was blown away. I think the growth spur is ganna start real soon... maybe 5-5:30:ROFL:

Growth spurts......BLAH. I hope mine never hit them. I want MINImatuses. I'de be allright with mine staying this size for a few years. They get any bigger and they are just gonna kill everything. I kinda dig the Odoe/Armatus combo right now.... Heavy infantry with a few snipers..... The Armatus just go nuts at feeding time... But the Odoes never miss. I don't want to have to throw mine in the pond..... I'de rather throw them in a monster tank that I have yet to build cause I don't OWN a friggin house yet. I feel stupid.... ALL I wanted was an Armatus. Couldn't find one so I bought a shoal of Tats. Got an Armatus and it killed off a few Tats and took over the tank. Then after it died I was lucky enough to find more.... Now what? I want a shoal of manageable Tats........ Cause until I buy a house I'm gonna end up with a POND of Armatus. What fun is that?

Well.... Lets see..... I've had 1/2 them for a year and haven't got squat yet.... LOL So I guess at this point only god knows..... Cause 1 things certain, I sure as hell don't. I KNOW the pup which I thought was a Mantilla (apparently isn't) won't be ready for breeding for a few years. The other suspected mantilla/ unidentified/hybrid looks like she is prego but then again has looked that was since I've had her. So in conclusion..... I don't know anything.... Except beer is good and Iowa sux (except for the album... that is good)

He is ganna stay there till he is about 8-9" then off to the 300
hopefully, hopefully by then the Vittatus will still be breathing:D
Pleco I put in there was 3.5 maybe 4".... just a common one and gone?
No where to be found. No way out cause of the canopy and the 2" gap from water surface and the top of the tank.... rena has the case thing around the inlet... so I have reason to believe that the Armatus took him out. Oh yeah... no Decor to hide either:irked:

Dont know?? I throw in feeders every 4-5 days and didnt see the Pleco before I did a water change. So Im assuming he got "wacked" :ROFL:

You seriously think it was eaten? My Armatus can't eat a full piece of smelt. Considering the fins and the skull itself I would think this to be put near impossible...... I have spotted pictus in with my Armatus. They are maybe 3 inches. Silvery and always moving. They haven't been touched. Haven't even seen a nipped fin. I would think it would spit out a hard arse pleco after the first time it bit down on it.

This was like a week ago, or atleast I just noticed last Thursday. When the lil guy was added, there was no water changes and no one touched the tank. I doubt the pleco jumped out?? No possible way he got sucked into the canister.... cause of the blue plastic rena pc.
I just added some minnows in 2 days ago and there was the biggest Fing minnow I ever seen. Maybe 3" long and beefy. It was the very first to fall to the Armatus. It took him a while to get it down but he did:WHOA:
Dont know to tell you the truth but I do know I have an unsolved

Ganna check my canister.... but there is no possible way to get there if I have not turned it off or the plastic pc has not been taken off...

I was trying for a day but decided to beef him up till he goes in with the Goliath:D. Then Ill do it. To thin to go in right now... need him about 3" bigger so I can free up his tank for some babys Orino, and Pike Odoe:naughty:

Most likely 9" So if he strikes the odds should be that much closer for my Goliath to survive (Dudes got some long Arse Fangs. Looks pretty cool when feeders get stuck in the fangs and he has to shake them off:naughty:)

Get a nice divider built and add him now. You want the GATF bigger than him. Wait much longer and it's just gonna shave more time off the allready limited time you'll see them together before the Armatus stakes it's claim.
If you actualy want this to work your Armatus NEEDS to be off live. I'm guessing it's probobly too late allready...... Should have had it off live a while ago. Then it would be a puddy tat now.......

Just yesterday he took a shot at some Scallops on a fishing line:headbang2
Nothing down the pipe, but smelled it maybe 3 times and opened wide.... but released it:cry:

If he's biting scallops he'll take smelt. Scallops are still shaken off the shanks of mine occasionally. I don't think they like the way it feels. Try some smelt......

I added my 8" Silver Aro with the GATF and Wolf and there is no aggression over there. If no scales are missing Im ganna add my Armatus this weekend:popcorn:
Just thought Id update my Armatus with a before and now pic:D
Picked him up at around 1.5" and is currently 8.25ish
The bigger pic was taken yesterday after a scuffle with my Goliath. Goliath took first blood:irked: (Red dot behind the Gill Plate)

Well if his aim was a little better maybe you'de have a shot at housing them together. If the Armatus is blind in one eye it might just work.....LOL

Well I did think of trying to buy a mouth pc for the Armatus but I guess ill try to look for a pair of fish muzzles:ROFL:
I thought about adding more driftwood but the Goliath spears around the tank sometimes and i dont want to risk him messing up his beautiful
face;). I have the current from the sump going towards the left and most of the current is felt on the left of the tank. that is where the Goliath kicks it at and the Armatus likes it too. I might add a lil pump to the right side so there is more current in there?
I hate to say it but if I cant house them together, Id be giving up the Armatus:cry:. Goliaths are to hard to find and his teeth look KickArse!

This is of course a perfect world..... And we all know this world isn't. Otherwise you'de have an Aimara in the mix.... LOL
All else fails just de-fang the Armatus....... LMAO.
