I have been clearing tank space to make room for an eventual all Tiger Tank, with perhaps 1 or 2 flagtails.
Current stock:
10" IT - 1nr (Unstable)
7" IT - 1nr (Unstable)
4" NGT - 2 nr.(very stable, but 1 being bullied so gone all black)
New Additons last 2 weeks,
7.5" IT, 6" IT, 5" IT, 4" IT (All 4 Very stable)

I added these 4 cause when I saw them, there colours were strong, bellies full and clear eyes. More importantly, I'm trying to get my 2 Big It's to Stablise..both been dark and brown for about a year now, after being very stable for years.
Anyhow, Update after 2 weeks: 3 of the 4 new IT's still stable, looking good. See photos. One new 5" had lovely cream white stipes , but now starting to fade slightly. Colours up better when feeding and water change time. Bars are still well defined, still satisfied with him.
Affects of new tigers on existing ones
It seems the increased competition and new IT's have stimulated the 7" unstable IT (had him for 3 years). Of the pics, there is one with black bars and a orangee-brown bars between. This is him showing signs of stability, but is is on and off. The 10" IT is still always brown, sometimes black, but always swimming freely and eating (had him for 4 years now)
Light
All the Tigers, not so keen on bright light, I use 1 4ft T8 of 36 W, for 100G tank, and tigers still like to hide, in the end, I prob have light on for 43-4 hours a day. May try lights on for 5 mins, before feeding, try this for 3 weeks to train them)
Tank Mates
6" Elec Blue jack Dempsey. Bit territorial, but is outnumbered by tigers, so doesn't cuase to much hassle. But looking to move him on and get Flagtails in stead. Does anyone think, these would be a better tank mates. Any recommendations.
2 phantom plecs (1 green 6" and 1 blue 5")
1 syno petricola 4"
Water params
27C, PH 8, Nitrates prob average 60, but never gets below 30, even after water change.
Decor:
Bog wood and hiding spaces...yes. Blue background. Sand substrate and some Vallis.
Tank
100G, 2 fluval 405's and 1 Rena XP3 (which is rubbish)
Food
frozen blister packs: Krill, bloodworm, prawn, occasionally muscle/whitebait.

Time and patience, is what I need to excercise. I'm confident the new Tig's will retain stability, and hopefuly, the other biggees will start to show their true colours.

Any advice regarding wehter Live food will induce stability, i.e. meal worms, eartyh worms etc?
Does anyone have super stable IT's that never eat any live food?

Any comments and thoughts are welcome...

BJD's run about $30-$40 in NJ for juvies. I've even seen them for $50 but that is at an overpriced lfs..

Yes, of the 4 stable ones, all have full neck bar going right round and under the belly. Funy, but when I pickd them, I did not even consider the neck bar, I only looked at stripes, colours, belly and eyes.

And yes, completely agree, pleeaase stay stable.

your 1st post states you are thinking of adding 2 x flagtails i wouldnt do that they will fight to the death 1 flagtail per tank

thanks, didn't realise that. Allways wondered why people with big tanks and tigers usually only had 1 flagtail.

Your ST's are awesome.

Sorry to hear. I also bought 6 flagtails about a year ago, they were reserved in a tank at maidenhead quatics (st albans), but they all caught whitespot and eventualy died, so I've never tried again.
I think you know of Aaandy, he speaks highly of you. I bought 2 of my stable IT's from him, and he had an 18" flagtail....Real nice. I was staring at his tanks and dats for hours...
