I got a good deal on a group of 5 large BPs from a restaurant that's closing down. They've joined my original 3 in my 90g tank. The largest male is fighting with my large male but hopefully that will subside pretty soon. I'm keeping an eye on them just to make sure.

Video!

Thanks! Everyone's still looking good this morning so I think they're going to get along fine.

I feel sorry for that tiny BP in the vid! I would be scared being in with all those big guys!
Looking good though!

Yeah I was worried about her too, but she's pretty courageous because she picks fights with the older ones and I even caught her pecking at the gills of two fighting males to interrupt the fight!

To answer your question, fishfreak317, the three orange ones are the ones I already had. The pink and red ones are the new ones.

I'm actually having some issues with this tank. Two pairs have laid eggs over the weekend and the whole tank has become a warzone. I don't know whether to sell all the females and just keep males, or what. :screwy: Any suggestions?

well if you get rid of the females. i prolly know some ppl that would probably want them. that is if you want to ship.

let me know if that big ole bi-color male is fertile. he looks like he might be. ;)

anyways, thanx for sharing these with us. that red is pretty deep on some of those :D

I can't ship, but I think I'm going to get rid of most of these parrots unfortunately. :( This tank has turned into a warzone, and now my favorite parrot, a large male and my very first BP, has wounds that he might not survive. Dammit!

If he survives I'm keeping him and one other in a 55g, and devoting this big tank to something else.

aww, sorry to hear about the injuries. I do like the tiny one darting out from underneath the driftwood though!

I sold all but two of these guys. It was a beautiful setup but unfortunately much more fighting than I expected. My favorite male had several fighting wounds on his head that somehow migrated to his sensory pits and started looking like a fungus-filled version of HITH. Absolutely nasty. So I isolated him into a 30g long and treated with some salt, high temp, and big WCs. He's doing much better but his pits are still a little deep. I added his girlfriend and he's in heaven. I guess I'll just keep the two of them in there while they're comfortable and put my SRT in the 90g.

They're acting like they want to spawn. Not much in the tank but Tahitian moon sand, a flowerpot, and a few skinny plants so they have plenty of swimming room. Here's a few pics, you can see his head. Excuse the algae.
